A Treatise on White Magic

This was the exact birthday gift wanted for a specific individual that was not able to get it to contribute to a deeper understanding of how to learn the art of the topic and how it relates to a plethora of other subjects that are related in a particular field of study

I first read this book 40 years ago and much of it left me scratching my head (it was not an easy read for a young man) but now that I am older and have been studying the occult for most of my life it makes alot of sense, I would recommend reading people like Annie Beasant, Rudolph Steiner and Elizabeth Prophet before reading this classic.

All esoteric libraries should include this book.

In the decades of reading esoteric literature I have found no system of teaching as enlightening as that of Alice Bailey's works, and TWM is among the most relevant as a guide to daily living. The reader is articulate with a pleasant English accent. Terrific for listening while driving.

This is a book for serious students of the inner life who wish to live life as mature souls. It assumes a willingness to grapple with abstruse "rules for magic" which have nothing to do with the outer forms of "magic" that concerns the personality life. There is an assumption that readers of the book "have lived long enough and battled sufficiently with deterrent forces of life to have enabled them to develop a fairely true sense of values" and that "they are endeavouring to live as those who know something of the true eternal values of the soul". It is a textbook for ongoing study by those who are dynamically engaged in a life of service.

Those familiar with Alice Bailey's books know they span across few decades. This fact is important for understanding some naming conventions which today might seem a bit strange. AB wrote some of her books in 1920s while Carl Jung was developing his field of psychology. You could be confused by the fact that this book, as an example, uses Ego and Higher Self interchangeably. In later books like Esoteric Healing the Ego and Higher Self were both dropped in favor of the Soul which makes more sense for today's reader. Personality term continues to be used in all her books as a reference to what Carl Jung called Ego, now an establised term for personality. Nevertheless the information you get in Alice Bailey's books, according to me, is the real deal. I am a student of the Law of One and Alice Bailey's work is the material that despite some outdated social conventions is as real and credible as the Law of One. Some concepts found in the Law of One at higher level you will find detailed in Alice Bailey's books. Have patience keep an open mind and try not to judge superficially. People reading old books from other eras tend sometimes to be judgemental forgetting that they have few decade advantage over the author. The information in Alice Bailey's books is legit interesting but also complex and requires patience and an open mind.

Very very good. I wouldn't recommend for beginners... Some familiarity with the Ageless Wisdom or AB's teachings will be highly recommended before this one. Good ones to start with could be the Soul and its Mechanism, or Consciousness of the atom, or Initiation human and solar... They would be easier to get rolling with.

ALL of the Alice Bailey books cannot be read as such - you have to really absorb what's written to understand them. They are a form of teaching... deep teaching; soul teaching; the Spiritual way of life. My intention is to get every one of these books because they make a superb collection and on those days when I have complete peace and quiet, I can sit, read, study and absorb. It will lead to a shift in consciousness, which can only be for the good in this day and age.
