Simple but very effective.
Park Tool quality in a bare bones tool. Easy to use and simple to tell if your chain is ready to be replaced.

Magic at such a low cost!
This is about the most specific tool you can buy. It does nothing but measure your Road bike chain fitness and let you know if it's time for a chain replacement. That's it. It can't do anything else. And lord knows I've tried. I've tried to make a jailhouse shiv out of it: failure; as dull as a butter knife. I've tried to use two as chopsticks at my local Vietnamese Pho restaurant: no dice. I've tried to re-market these as metal back scratchers: One person with a really itchy back bought one but ended up using it for it's intended purpose: to see if your bike chain is stretched beyond its useful life. And for that it's magic! What I really like about this tool is that it has a .5 inch measure (and also a .75 inch measure) that is a finer indicator for high end road bikes. I like to replace my chain when the .5 inch indicator slips too low into the chain links. It's a low tech tool that really is a bit of genius. Any serious or semi-serious Fred should own one.

The right checker for 10 and 12 speed derailleurs
This is the right checker for 10 and 12 speed derailleurs. Park makes a fancier one that’s more expensive and harder to use.
