Life saver! Amazing
Dove season was just around the corner in Arizona, and a week before I remembered how last year I almost stepped not one or two but three rattlers I decided to purchase these. This year was no different with the exception of one strike me. It was a little guy I just barely heard the rattle, but I couldn’t see him when I stepped back I felt something hit my calf I jumped like a scarred little cat! Scared out of my mind I went to a clear area took the gaiters off and immediately checked my leg and found nothing! No bite not even a scratch. Just left shaking like a little girl. There were some tiny tears on the material but idk if it was from the snake or twigs and brushes. Regardless I was immensely happy to have purchased these

Cheap and easy and fits well
Cheap and easy, fits wonderfully no crimping or pinching, I haven't had a snakes bite them but they passed the needle test with flying colors. The very thin plastic panels inside are tougher than I anticipated and could easily stop a BB gun. If you looking for cheep solid safety form snakes these are it, CHEAP is the key word I only plan on using these a few times a session when the threat of snakes is highest when out metal detecting, the leg buckles are the cheep kind of plastic so don't pull to tight, the under shoe wire is nice, but the cheep leather straps holding the wire in place feels like it won't last long but time will tell. Probably easy to fix with a few staples to attach some stronger straps and better buckles and they could last a few years . As is they are good for a few adventures and could save your life but if you need something for daily use right out of the box look elsewhere, for a weekend warrior like me they are perfect.

Better than nothing
Decent protection but probably better for shorter people. I'm 6'3" and the upper part of the gaiter rides in the middle of my calf. Would be more comfortable for me if they were a couple inches taller. The cable that goes underneath the foot is a nice feature but the strap that holds it is thin and tends to slip out and flop around while I'm walking. They seem rigid enough to stop a snake bite, hopefully I won't be the Guinea pig. I feel safer hiking around the desert southwest with them on.

They work
They work! Hunting in a swampy area this last year and land owners warned me about snakes so just to satisfy my wife I bough these and the first day wearing them I had a copperhead strike me in the shin. So ya. They work. Easy to put on. Good buy!

Effective, comfortable, affordable.
Over all, these worked very well. The construction is not incredible, but they didn't give me any issues while in use Upland bird hunting in San Diego County. Difficult terrain with cactus, buck brush, big rattlesnakes etc...everything growing has a defense mechanism. The gaiters got me through without incident walking at times through cactus. Performance, 5 stars. Construction, 4 stars. Price, 4 stars. The attachment point of the cable loop isn't designed/constructed very well. Although it stayed in place, it became twisted outward so the T was not flush against the boot. Additionally the cable loop adjustment strap didnt stay in the excess strap loop. Velcro square stitched in will secure it in place. The panels inside are thick enough to provide that necessary protection against thorns, etc...Worn with Irish Setter boots, 8" rise. The product image of gaiters on boots is very accurate.Good fit. Good value. Good results. Good purchase.

Good, but...
I really like the leg coverage that the gators afforded but the second time I used them two of the rectangular metal clasps that the Velcro straps go through came off. The stitching that holds them on just came unstitched. I had to get some straps of my own.

Some weak spots. But mostly okay.
I put these on and was showing them to my son by poking them with a knife. Then I stabbed myself a bit. Protection is missing in the flex points. A little concerning.

tough
haven't been struck by a snake yet but they seem impenetratable and a good value comparatively.....would be a 5 but could be easier to put on i think.......
