Used. Bad sound design. Looks realistic though.
The item was clearly used. The safety screw on battery cover stripped. One tightening nut bent. Scratches all over it, photos do not give justice. Slope in the bow like its been tugged on. The electronic portion bad design plus wouldnt play past one note in song, like it was stuck. But*If you want a silent play violin this is great. Looks very real. Great for a photo prop. Still good for imagination and play. Im returning it.

A fantastic TOY for a reasonable price!!!
If you want to actually let your kids experiment with playing an actual violin, then you’ll probably see spending upwards of $80 for an actual beginner violin. But if you’re looking for a low-price realistic looking toy you don’t mind the accidental drop or bang while teaching young ones to care for instruments, this is a great visual facsimile!!! 4 buttons on back offer multiple songs, and depending on which you hit, it goes into a play by sensory mode (although it’s tricky to get it to play as you “bow,” I mean you’re not exactly paying major tech prices, here) and really, the idea is to pretend and have fun. Nice little toy at a nice price for that.

Don't expect to much
If you want a cheap violin that you are not worried too much about the kids breaking quickly, then this is the one. It is really cheaply made, and the bow string is so flimsily that I am sure it will break after a few uses. It takes batteries and will play some tunes, but not violin tunes, as you might expect from a violin. Nice and cheap, but don't buy if you are expecting it to last for very long.

Updated review
Looks good like a real violin except there is no string on the bow to play it, thats for safety for the kids so thats nice.Im updating my review because I realized there are multiple prerecorded settings, some of the songs do sound like violins which is cool. Im not a fan of the prerecorded baby giggle but I noticed that one activates my baby songs, but I feel like some of those baby songs dont even sound like a violin, which im not big on. But there are other setting that do sound like violin song. Took me a minute to realize the strings play when you hold them down to make it feel like your actually playing thats cool.

The bow doesn’t do anything
My kid can’t play with the thing like an actual violin because the bow doesn’t do anything to the strings. He has to strum the strings pretty hard like a guitar with his fingers to get the thing to play and some of the song settings don’t even work. Two buttons work. One being twinkle twinkle little star and the other is just a weird baby laughing sound. But he’s having fun with it for now. Not what we were going for though.

A great tool for young kids learning the concept of an instrument
I found this for a client of mine. He is 5 years old and autistic and his special interest is music! This has been a great tool to learn how to be gentle with a special instrument as well as how to hold and use his fingers on the frets (which produce the sound) and the bow on the strings! I strongly recommend it for really young kids who might not be so gentle with their toys as the price isn’t bad and it allows them to explore a special interest! Not necessarily a great tool for actually learning to play an instrument, but overall a good introduction to instruments

Very poor
Unfortunately this is literally just a toy made to look like a violin/fiddle. A bow is included but its not a real bow, you cannot use it. It's a piece of elastic fabric so it cannot produce notes. The build quality is a bit poor, the buttons on the back are cheapo feeling and don't always work when pressed. Requires 2 AA batteries. When putting the bow to the strings, and batteries inserted it does not play any notes. There is a 10 second lag when it does work. It's a toy made to look like an instrument. The strings cannot do anything. The pickups don't work. It's not an electric violin. It's not a violin. It does not really do what is advertised.
