The Name of the Wind[KINGKILLER CHRON #01 NAME OF T][Paperback]

Can't believe I didn't review before! One of my favorite novels ever written in the genre, in the company of George RR Martin, Robin Hobb, maybe even Tolkien.I will not spoil it for you, because there's already been so much written on Rothfuss's book. I will say there is a hero, a legend even, and that the story is largely told from the present looking back. There is magic; there is music; there's even a school of magic; there are epic journeys; there are evil forces; but it all feels fresh. This is truly in the company of all the greatest fantasy series of all time.

One of the best stories I’ve ever read.

Don't get me wrong, book 1, 2 and 2.5 of the Kingkiller Chronicles is one of the best stories i have ever read. But it's been 10 YEARS since book 2 was published and the author, to this day, refuses to even predict when the 3rd, and mercifully final, book will be published! Reading his webpage makes it very clear that his focus is on everything in life, except writing.I would suggest just putting it on your Future Reading List and buy them all - 1, 2, 2.5 and 3 - when 3 is finally, if it ever actually is, published. Now you can't complain that you have not been warned!

This story captivated me from the start. The world and characters Rothfuss has created are complex and rich. I gobbled up this book and the second one, Wise Man's Fears. I know many are angry that he hasn't written the third one, but I submit that if you think about the ending of the second book, it does work as a place to end the story. However, I, like many, would just to have MORE of this story because it's so good.

Best new author in years... read the first two books and weep for the doors of stone to be released in 2020.

Book wasn’t the edition pictured, which I was hoping for so it would match book #2 already on my shelf. And I probably would have rated this condition a bit lower, as it was more worn/jacket torn than I expected. Still a great book, can’t wait to reread!

Fantastic series, can't wait for no 3 to come out, which I've heard is called "Doors of Stone".

Fantasy not usually my cup of tea but this is superb!
