"Combaticons, combine into Bruticus!"
I never had the original Combaticon figures but there were a favorite amongst all the combiner teams in the original cartoon and subsequent comics, etc. This Onslaught figure is really great, it captures his general look from the original G1 cartoon and melds it with some of his more recent comic and other media looks. Very sturdy figure. Very simple vehicle to robot transformation and back, the most difficult part only being the leg folding up into the outer leg in some way that is common in many Generations figures. It took me a bit longer to figure out transforming him into Bruticus' torso which hinges on spinning his robot mode backpack around and contorting his arms but after a few conversions you'll have it down. Paint application looks great on my figure as well, the colors are perfect for Onslaught. My only complaint is I wish he came with a third gun, his back cannons are removable for him to wield in robot mode but takes away from their iconic look on his back. Overall though this is a great voyager class Transformer, the Combiner Wars Combaticons in general are all really solid figures for mostly retools with the exception of Brawl.

Faithful enough reimagining of Onslaught G1.
When I was younger I had the original Onslaught. I remember how cool he was. Now that I see this new one, I have to say that this imagining is pretty great. He is more complicated, more detailed, and looks imposing. I can't wait to collect the remaining Combaticons; if I can afford them at the rate they're selling. The only gripe I have is Onslaught's head. The front breast plate that opens to conceal his head while transformed doesn't seem to hold his head up in place securely. What this means is that sometimes it looks as if Onslaught did something naughty; he seems to be looking at the ground avoid optical sensor contact. ;)

The mastermind
Onslaught is a brilliant tactician. He enjoys crafting carefully laid out plans for the rest of the Combaticons to carry out. However, when those plans fail, he will enter the battle and unleash all his cunning, strength and fury. He forms the head and torso of Bruticus, the combined form of the Combaticons, a terrifying powerhouse on the battlefield, but considerably stupid. So here we have the leader of the Combaticons, Onslaught, and it is really a retooling/remodel of Protectobot Hot Spot. Onslaught transforms almost the same way as Hot Spot transforms, the only difference is Hot Spot is a fire truck, while Onslaught is an anti-aircraft vehicle, so his torso was reworked. He is still easy to transform into a vehicle and into the torso of Bruticus. I recommend Onslaught and the Combaticons to anyone looking to bolster their Decepticon forces.

He's not that bad
Of the centerpiece combiner transformers, he's fairly solid. Not as dull as Motormaster, not as good looking as Silverbolt, but somewhere in the middle. Never got Hot Spot for the kids so, can't comment there. He was worth the twenty four bucks I blew on him I guess.

Looks Decent
Picked this up after deciding to add Bruticus to one of my Transformer shelves. Overall it's a decent looking figure although the material quality is a definite step down compared to some of the toy lines that came after the Combiner Wars line. The transformations are not very engaging and Tank Mode is very iffy for me. It is basically just lift arms above head and lock legs into place. If the hips/legs aren't quite in the right place it has a very "bowed" look. If it weren't so long it would probably look better in my opinion. The shoulders also lacked a peg on my figure I received to hold the in place during Bruticus, but the stiffness of the arm joints holds it in place and doesn't look much different than the shoulder with the peg. The chest shield also helps hide it so, overall it's not a big issue for me. Just a notable occurrence that some figures made it off the manufacture line without the pegs. My only other complaint beyond tank mode would be Bruticus's head. It's more reminiscent of Optimus Prime and darker than the Bruticus that I remember from the G1 cartoons. After a couple quick Google searches I did see some images that resembled the head used. It was probably easier and cost effective to re-purpose/enlarge a previously designed head.

My son said its epic and the most awesome toy. Need to make bruticus the transformer and it was at a great value. The joints are very strong and very easy to move. Took approximately 3 minutes to transform into vehicle mode.

Good addition for everyone.
This is a class of transformer that anyone would like, but it's a voyager class so there's really nothing left to say. The transformation is very smooth and easy to grasp. The design and detail is very clean. I would definitely recommend this transformer to anyone no matter what facet of appeal you have for it. Just beware of the shipping process. Other than that, this product definitely gets 5 ⭐️s from me.

Good look and concept, poor design
While I purchased the rest of the Transformers Generations Combiner Wars "Combaticons" (say that six times fast!) from a brick-and-mortar retailer, I was forced to head online to find the centerpiece of the collection. Onslaught is the crux of the "Combination" (or Gestalt) mechanic of the Combaticons set, which combine the 5 robot toys to form Bruticus. With this in mind, he's notably larger than the other Combaticons and cuts a more impressive outline on the display shelf. As for toy itself, Onslaught (in robot mode) is reasonably well put-together, with solid joints and plenty of articulation in the arms. Sadly, this does not extend to his legs, which are not very intuitive to transform and pose only with great difficulty. In vehicle mode, Onslaught has a unique (if unrealistic) design, though once again his legs are a problem in that they cause an odd "bowing" effect near the center of the toy that looks a bit odd. In general, I'd say that despite being the centerpiece of the Combaticons, Onslaught is probably the weakest toy on his own, though he looks great when they are fully combined into Bruticus.
