Hardest of the 3 standard audition M KVs, and the best version out there.
Use Urtext for all of my professional score needs. Not for beginners, as it does not offer the same hand held guidance as an International edition per example. But it clearly outlines the historical intentions of the composer and offers two scores, one of he original as intended and one with fingering, bowing and performance markings. There are also cadenzas. The quality is unparalleled and the piano reduction is quite nicely orchestrated, yet not overly embellished or ornate as one might find with scores edited by a concert pianist. My teachers have always suggested using these scores as they are true to the composer's original desires and they may be a bit more expensive, but the quality and craftmanship are well worth it, and are a standard for every other edition. *Guidance should be there for the student when using these editions.
