Art Nouveau: Postcard Colouring Book (Multilingual Edition)

The designs are beautiful. However the paper is too thin, markers bleed on it. The details are very fine, so I must use fine tip pens but this paper makes them thicker. Overall I like the designs but would not recommend this book to a novice.

This booklet has the benefit of good-quality watercolor paper and light lines that don't overwhelm your coloring. The paper quality and beauty of the illustrations are the main reasons for my rating. Someone with better watercolor skills than me should be able to make great use of this.There are some problems, though: With the paper the size of a normal postcard, some of the details appear awfully small for watercolors, and the light lines would only make this worse. I haven't actually tried watercolors on these, but I can tell it's above my (admittedly basic) skill level just by looking at it.I used Tombow brush pens on one card and the color didn't exactly lay down smoothly. I imagine that I'll have much better luck with colored pencils. If need be, I could always use one of my brush or inking pens to darken the lines.Once again, though, this should be a 5-star product for someone with the right skill set, and I've rated it to reflect this.

Only a few of the cards are usable due to the tiny design... unless you use fineline markers of super sharp pencils.

I had hoped to fill these in with water color, but many of the drawings have spaces that are much too small. The paper is high quality heavy stock and the drawings are delightful, so I am working them in pencil instead.

I have a hard time telling where some of the lines go with the picture.

The outines were extremely light, difficult to see.

These are really good, I've bought other designs of theirs. I would recommend.

Die Bilder sind ganz hübsch und das Papier wirklich stabil. Ich hatte es zum Ausmalen mit Brushpens ( Aquarellstifte) gekauft. Sie malen darauf auch sehr gut, nur mit Wasser lassen sie sich auf diesem Papier nicht wirklich zum verlaufen bringen. Schade eigentlich. Da es in der Beschreibung stand, ging ich davon aus, dass es machbar ist. Dennoch kann man die Bilder ja mit den Brushpens ausmalen, nur mit Wasser braucht man es nicht versuchen! Die Linien sind wirklich fein, sodass man sie nicht so stark sieht, wenn das Bild fertig ist.

Heavy weight watercolor paper so that's nice but many of the cards are finely detailed and will be difficult but if that's your sort of thing great buy. I will still have fun even if they don't turn out perfect!
