Great Replacement Choice
This 6 volt feeder motor is much better than the original AA battery version. It is much sturdier and has a critter guard that protects against racoon damage. Although setting it is a bit more complicated, it does work well. Just know you must use alkaline batteries (not cheap zinc-carbon batteries) because the cheaper zinc-carbon batteries sold at most stores around town do not have the power to run the motor. The better and more expensive alkaline batteries are not sold in all stores. Because I did not realize batteries were the problem, I actually replaced a good feeder motor thinking it had gone bad. Now I know to only use alkaline batteries. One battery gets me thru the whole deer season.

Been using these for years, I now am running 4
These are great feeders if you have your own barrel. The quick attach system is great. Makes it simple to remove and store the feeder when not in use. I have switched all mine over to rechargeable batteries since the rechargeable is about the same price as a Duracell. I do not use a solar charger because the raccoons tear them apart. The spinner will get gummed up and corroded where the motor shaft attaches to the spinner plate. If you are leaving it out in the weather year round, let it spin daily even if there is no feed in the barrel, to keep it free. It also helps to spray WD40 on the spinner plate base once in a while.Moultri revised the clock buttons a few years ago. I wish they had not done that. They added a button to the unit that makes it more confusing to set and adjust.

Be careful!
Had this product 2 months under a 55 gal barrel, had one rain and it quit working. The timer had the correct date and showed the battery fully charged BUT it would not test feed and finally after disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting everything quit working. Had another one in the mail and then replaced this one and discovered screws to the barrel mount were loose and lost one. I did some engineering on it with wire and will see this feeder in two or three days. It seems to be working for I have hogs under it every night per my Tacticam camera. After this I told two friends about the failure and they both said they also had trouble with these feeders and quit buying anything Moultrie.Appearance:don't let appearance fool you.
