Would not sweat copper without this tool
I renovated my bathroom, and installed a shower system using copper with 2 shower heads, 4 body sprays, and a diverter along with the mixing valve. I can't count all the joints I had to sweat, but it was a lot. This tool attaches to a drill and makes it 100X easier to clean the inside of the fittings and outside of the copper pipe. I could not imagine doing all that by hand, I would have arthritis if I tried. This tool was a live saver, I followed the guidance of another reviewer who suggested to put a small worm clamp on the plastic sleeve to keep it from breaking. Not sure if I needed it, but was good for peace of mind. The outside wire bristles worked perfect, but the inside pipe cleaner bristles seemed like they could be a little longer, as I had to wiggle the tool a little more to really clean the inside of the pipe. Only thing that made it less than perfect. Either way, this tool is a must have!!

Fast and Convenient. Plenty Durable.
I’ve had a set of these for a few years now. They work great. I have no idea how some users are finding they break easily. My original set is fine. I have just ordered a couple more simply because don’t want to find out someday that Weiler has discontinued them. When used as intended in a battery powered screwgun -NOT a plug in “drill” motor- they will work well. If you overdo it I can imagine them getting overheated and thus soften and perhaps break.I use mine at a moderate speed and simply clean the pipe. It’s so much better than those dang wrist breaker types. And far better than sandpaper. Thanks Weiler!

Fast and efficient tool for soldering. Make sure you pull the brush through the device to clean outside pipe/fitting.
This tool works well to clean copper inside and out--all in one tool. Also, it helps reduce wear on your joints from repetitive stress. I haven't used it long enough to discuss longevity, but it's similar to other manual brushes we all use and replace periodically for best results. As far as instructions, there aren't any. So to clean inside fittings, make sure the narrow brush is extended just as pictured on Amazon. To clean outside pipe (or street fittings), pull the narrow brush all the way through the drum brush inside the red plastic. This exposes the round, drum brush inside. You should NOT be running the brush inside the pipe (or street fitting) while attempting to clean the outside. This is wrong. You need to draw the brush into the red plastic part and through the drum brush entirely then clean the outside of a pipe or street fitting. Conclusively, you don't just leave the tool as pictured and merely clean inside and outside. You need to make an adjustment depending on inside or outside.

A kickass tool that needs EASY fixes to two simple problems.
Alright folks, listen up!Yes, there are design flaws. But they are very, very easily remedied.Read on for how to overcome the problems with this awesome hella timesaver tool! The problems mentioned in other reviews are correct. The design is such that the problems are unavoidable.1. The OD cup detaches from the shaft. When plastic is attached to metal in a tool specifically used for torsional stress, it will eventually break (sure wish things were still made of metal!). One can hasten this break by using an impact driver, or operating at too fast a speed, or pressing the cup too deeply onto the pipe. Even if one does none of these things, the plastic will eventually break where it bonds with the metal shaft.2. The ID brush spins loose out of its mount. This only happens if the tool is used in a clockwise rotation (righty tighty). This is because the spiral wire that forms the shaft body is spun in a counter-clockwise manner. How to fix the problems:1. Add a hose clamp around the skinniest part of the plastic, where it attaches to the metal shaft. You could probably also encapsulate it in some JB Weld if you really wanted to overdo it. Definitely use a low speed setting on your drill/driver. Consider not using an impact driver. And do NOT push too far down the pipe -- you only need 1/2" to 3/4" polished.2. Set your drill/driver to counter-clockwise use (lefty loosey). That's it! Just run the drill backwards when using the ID brush.Don't let the design flaws of this kickass tool keep you from buying it. If you've made it this far, you're already someone who can easily overcome the problems. Just make a sure you buy a tiny hose clamp at the same time (NOT a spring-style clamp, you want a worm-gear style).

Decent value, two in one copper prepping
This works well, but burns out just as quickly as other, cheaper interior pipe cleaning brushes on the market. It was nice to save on some elbow grease and sore forearms when compared to sandpaper on the exterior, but seems designed more for the at home handyman vs a plumber or tradesman. Was nice while it lasted but didn’t mast more than a day or two.

Used it repetively for about a month. Started losing the brush about the 3rd week. Definitely worth the money

Brittle. Plastic Housing broke several times.
This tool is not for professional use. I’ve purchased several of these devices twice and I’ve encountered the same problems on both occasions. The plastic housing is extremely brittle and breaks quite easily with repeated use. The device is very useful when it’s new but it’s build quality is a massive let down. As a plumber who relies heavily on my tools to complete my projects as efficiently as possible, I am not exaggerating when I say that this device has almost cost me money due to its failure at the most inopportune times. I will not be purchasing this tool again and I would advice others to be mindful of its shortcomings before purchasing it for themselves.
