Great sound quality for the price
I bought these speakers as replacements for a set of old Creative speakers. Setup was really easy and the sound quality over Bluetooth and via cable is excellent and a definite step up. Nice compact size as well. They are loud enough for my small room. The main requirement for the speakers was for output from the AmpliTube guitar effects simulation application. I’m really pleased with the improved sound output. Unfortunately it hasn’t improved my playing though!

FLAT OUT
BUILD QUALITYThe build quality of these speakers are solid.SOUNDThe sound is not bad. They are designed to give a flat response for musicians and content creators. I bought this pair of reference speakers to use with my Android devices as I compose music with a variety of mobile DAWs, e.g. Audio Evolution, Cubasis, Caustic, and more!UNIQUE SELLING POINTThe USP for me is that this pair of reference speakers is Bluetooth compatible. This makes it easy for me to compose on my Android devices without being tethered via wires to the speakers.CONCLUSIONI had hoped for a bigger sound, but the speakers are fine for the purpose. I am serious about music composition and it is essential to be able to produce a final mix that will sound great on a multitude of audio devices: Computer (speakers), Car Stereo, Hi-Fi, and so on.It's early days, but I think the Mackie CR3-XBT Active reference speakers will serve me well!I wouldn't recommend these speakers for gaming as they are not designed for that purpose.Oh! I found the speakers easy to set-up, connect the usual black and red wires, pair it up to my Android devices, and the volume knob is at the front for easy access. There's no way to make EQ adjustments, which suits me just fine as that kind of detail is a little beyond my scope. The only thing I would have wanted was to have some foam dampeners to place the speakers on. Still, I am quite happy with this purchase.I would most likely upgrade - in due course - to a larger speaker set-up as their are various size options.SCORE4.5 / 5The price is just about right... Could have been under £100. But it is a pair of studio quality reference speakers. I would recommend this product to mobile phone musicians primarily for the Bluetooth functionality. If you are a newbie computer musician, I would go for the larger speakers to get more of a bigger sound. That last bit may come across as a bit of a contradiction, but I am currently experimenting with music composition on various hardware. At the moment, I am looking into music composition on Android mobile devices. What would I do if I was on a budget and had to buy a decent-ish set of reference speakers on a budget? The Mackie CR3-XBT Active reference speakers stood out as a relatively inexpensive option.

Great sound for price... but...
These guys sound great for what they cost, and with Bluetooth they are pretty versatile - I've had them in the garden paired to my mobile when friends have been over. The only let down is a constant background hiss from the built in amplification. As soon as power runs through their circuit it's there and constant no matter what the volume. Saving grace is that it gets no louder when the volume goes up or when music is playing. But this means there is no silence between tracks and that quiet parts of tracks you can sometimes hear this.At this price and with the overall sound I can forgive this, but it is an annoyance and I wish they would change the design, if that's possible without compromising the overall sound at this price point.

Excellent
Smaller than I thought they'd be, but they are brilliant. Great sound and quality.
