bought this for my 67 ss chevelle. no i wont cut the hood. its been awhile since ive used weind blower intakes and they have changed tremendosly since the 80s. i have a bds intake on my boat and in comparison, the latter is over 700 bucks for a street version of this. its lighter, a bit more thought out than the weind. this thing is a pig. the rear of the sealing flange is an inch thick. thus the pocket you see for the distributor base. it is not a tented style intake that i would like. so what to do? it came with a badly bent popoff spring that took hours to resolve. for the extra 200 ill do a bds intake next time. or tbs. have fun.
