Nice Rack!
Yup, this thing works great. I had no issue with any screws or threads rusting out or stripping from my LoadWarrior, which has been on my roof for like 4 years prior to buying this extension. So that worked out great, and I was a little bummed out about the possibility of having to get the extension and then not be able to set it up right away due to things stripping or rusting. But, that was not the case! Everything fit together great, i used the old screws on the bottom of the whole basket+extension, and the new ones that came with the extension on the sides where the screw the sections together for a cleaner visual look...as you cannot see the old screws on the bottom at all. Good idea. One thing I thought was weird was that with the extension, now there are 15 rungs, without the extension, there were 10...anyhow, with an odd number of rungs the basket is not symmetrical. What that means is either the front or the back will be longer depending on how you set it up, you do not have the option to completely center the basket. It's like a 55/45 split, if you are trying to maintain the Yakima recommendation of not having your crossbars further than 30" apart. Other than that this extension maxes out the capacity of the LW and fills the entire roof of our Jeep Liberty right up the the back of the sunroof, and does not interfere with the antenna or the back hatch door at all when lifted. I have not yet added the additional load bar that comes with this extension because I have no immediate use for it. I will be using it in the future and it looks as if it installs very easily, and comes with a allen wrench specific to it. It should be a rock solid rack when all said and done. Love this basket, and I might as well get a couple axe/shovel mounts for the sides now for fun... Highly recommended!

Well engineered, well made.
I got a used product to save a little cash. It wasn't scratched or bent, but it did come in the worst packaging I've ever seen successfully delivered. The rack was literally hanging out of the "box" (loosely bound flaps of cardboard) in two places. And it was missing a screw. All in all, the screw is a standard size and easy to find a replacement, and the perfect fit with the existing, well-used LoadWarrior basket I was fitting it to are a testament to how well engineered and made the Yakima products are.

Perfect, go buy the extension before you put together your basket.
Went into place perfect, easy to install. Could have installed it with one person, but If you have someone willing to take 10-30 minutes with you then it'll go faster. To prevent rusting, corrosion, and the screws stripping (like my basket screws stripped. I did everything correct and they still stripped, called Yakima and they sent more screws out free of charge right away. So my project was delayed a week) I put spray on it to prevent any of that happening to my extension. I camp, bike, and enjoy everything about the outdoors. This basket extension will help get my bike from point A to point B with no trouble at all! No more scratching up the inside of my Forester. :) I recommend buying the extension right away BEFORE putting together your yakima basket, if you're even thinking about buying the extension. Just buy it and save the trouble of screws stripping. In order to get the stripped screw out, I took a chisel and a hammer and banged the head of the screw off, then took middle nose pliers and removed the problem which was inside the tube. Was a pain in my butt, but I read the reviews and figured it would happen to me. And it did.

Great product
I originally bought the load warrior basket for my Subaru Crosstrek and it wasn’t quite big enough to fit everything I needed it for (kayak attachments & camping totes). I bit the bullet and got the extension and I’m glad I did. It shipped to me within a few days and was easy enough disassembling the basket to add on the extension. Love Yakima products, highly recommend if you need some extra space and want a quality product.

Basket Extension
perfect fit, nicely extends the cargo area of the standard basket. Only problem was that when I went to remove the screws to disassemble the original rack so that I could install the extension, I found that one of the screws was stripped. This could only have happened at the factory upon assembly of the original rack. This made it a pain in the rear to install the extension cause I had to drill out the screw and replace with something else. I am very disappointed in Yakima for this. Has nothing to do with the extension - it's a problem with the original rack.

Rusting spots right out of the box
Let me put this in the proper context. I already have a Yakima Load warrior for a few years so I wanted to get the extension so I just bought it. I attached it to the load warrior without any problems. Then I proceeded to recondition my original basket because over the year it developed rust in some spots like welding places and the points of contact for the fairing. Then I looked at the extension and to my surprised it already had rust spots in the same welding places. I ended up painting the whole basket to stop the rust from continuing. Not a good sign to see rusting spots in the welding spots of the small diameter crossbars out of the box.

Good product. The middle crossbar is optional which I didn't know until I put it together.
Product worked great and fit perfectly together with the basket I had. The one worry I had was about the middle cross bar, which turns out to be optional, and easily goes on and off with the provided wrench, so I can put it on quick when using a bike or ski attachment, or take it off when carrying bigger objects.

Good product, poor customer service
Product showed up without the 4 connection screws, after several attempts to contact their customer service, all I got was an automated response asking me to send pictures of the damage....there was no damage, I just wanted the screws sent to me.....poor customer service and bot
