Perfect little helmet for any child!
I wasn't too sure about this helmet from reading the reviews. I was so nervous that my daughter would easily be able to pull it off defeating the purpose all together. When I received it in the mail it was cuter than what I had imaged. I love how this helmet is very light weight, so it isn't a strain on my daughters head. When I went to put it on her head the first time she kept wanting to play with it, so I was sure then it would be a struggle to get her to leave it alone while wearing it. So I took one of her toys that played music to distract her while I put the helmet on. Very quick and easy to slide on the helmet and attached the Velcro straps. I was amazed that after putting on the helmet and walking away my daughter kept playing with her toy, and acted like she didn't even know it was there. Now when I put on the helmet it's like she isn't wearing anything at all. She doesn't tug at it or try to remove it. My daughter is 9 months and tries to walk, so she falls and bumps her head quit often, and this helmet has saved us many tears. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone! I have attached pictures of my daughter Lilly playing in her helmet. Oh and a quick note, all helmets make you sweat one way or another. It should be common sense that you can't leave this helmet on your child for long periods of time and expect their head not to sweat a little. This helmet has a ton of ventilation holes in it but if you leave it on your child for an hour they will start to sweat a little.

Great Product
I purchased the blue Thudgard Protective Helmet for my granddaughter. It has done its job many times over, while also giving me peace of mind. She started walking a little before 9 months, and at 10 months she had a hard fall that sent her to the emergency room. Worst experience of my life! Since then she has fallen a few more times on a tile floor, and this helmet protected her little head. It has been a life saver ~ hers and mine! I sincerely wish that I had found this helmet earlier. It is true that the helmet can make the little one hot while wearing it, but that hasn't happened often, and there are plenty of times to remove it and cool off. Even though she no longer needs a walker, we use it for snack time, so she doesn't wear the helmet during snack time, naps, baths, lunch, walks using the stroller, watching Super Why & Sesame Street, playing in the playpen, or when she's in my arms. It's not like they should be wearing the helmet 24/7, so if you're concerned about the helmet being hot, then just check your baby often and use good judgment. Since my granddaughter loves to climb on everything and run on her tiptoes - the helmet is a must! I would recommend this to anyone who has tile floors, stained concrete floors, and wood floors on a concrete slab. This is a wonderful product and I am very happy with it!

You'll be happy you got this...
When my husband wanted to get a helmet for our 5 month old I thought that he was being too overprotective, but it has turned out great. First of all, it is adorable! Our son looks so cute on it, and the little ears on top really do add to it, everyone comments on them. You might not think it matters, but it really helps, it doesn't look as dorky as you might think, and it's always nice to have your baby look cute ;) It helps you breathe easier when he has it on. Our little guy is fast! He's crawling at 6 months, and it's great, it's peace of mind. In a big way it actually makes us less overprotective and allows him to be more free because we don't worry as much about where he goes (so long as we keep our floor clean). It really is easier to "house proof" the baby, rather than "baby proof" the house, cheaper too! I originally thought it was too expensive, but now i do think it was worth it. The only downside, the reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that it's kind of big. Now, mind you, that our son is only 6 months, and he's in the 25th percentile, so it will probably fit your baby better. We put a hat under the helmet and that makes it fit really well, but it does make the baby hot. Though, on the upside it will probably last a while. It does seem to be made well and is holding up nicely. Oh, and the baby loves it, he really doesn't seem to mind, and indeed seems to feel more free in it (according to my husband anyway.) All in all a good buy, and you will definitely use it, if only for the trucks and cars and all the horses the baby is eventually going to ride.

I don't have much other options, so it's okay
The helmet looks absolutely adorable, especially with those ears. It serves its purpose, my 7 month old is trying to stand and falls a lot. It does absorb the impact and cause her to cry less. But I do agree with other reviewers saying that it is hot. Her head get sweaty wearing this for short time, and she is trying to pull off the helmet, but currently she doesn't have the skill to do so yet. Since I don't see any other company selling this kind of product, I still decided to keep it, since I have an early mover as well and I do worry about her head hitting on hard floor.

Perfect for 6-month cruising, will grow with him.
I'm not much of a reviewer here on Amazon, but I found others' experiences with the Thudguard helpful when I was making my choice, so I thought I'd add to the discussion. I bought it when my 6 month old, very large (30", 23 lb) son decided it was time to go vertical and start cruising (and crashing!). It was big for his head (which is 45-ish cm in circumference), but thanks to another reviewer, I knew to use a stitch (in my case, a safety pin) to take up the back elastic, which made it fit perfectly. Bonus, we'll have it for when he's walking for real, running, etc., because the fit is very flexible. We used it a few hours a day for a few weeks, until he got pretty stable, then set it aside until we need it next. Yes, he got hot in it at times (we had a week or two of ninety degree days while he was using it), but we tended to put him in it outside on the deck with his baby pool, and keep him wet to stay cool while practicing his bumps and bruises. Transaction was seamless, all good stuff. Party on, parents, and best with your little ones.

I love this helmet!
This is a quality item, extremely light, designed to fit securely and comfortably on a growing baby's head, and actually cute. My 8 month-old has been wearing it for nearly 1 month and it has already prevented multiple bumps and a couple of more serious injuries. I had reservations about purchasing it due to it's price and reviews regarding baby's head sweating while wearing it. Granted, my baby's head is sweaty after about 30 minutes of wearing the helmet while actively moving around (even though the helmet IS ventilated). However, I prefer to monitor the length of time she wears it (so she won't overheat), than to expose her to bumps and potentially serious injuries, especially on very hard tile floors in our home. I also wondered if my baby would remove the helmet easily, since she does not like hats or anything on her head. So far, the velcro keeps it in place and she could not remove it even if she tried. Like anything else, this product may not work for everyone, but it does work wonderfully for our little one. I highly recommend it.

Causes head to sweat profusely. * EDITED after months of use*
UPDATE: The first few times my son used this product, I was disappointed. As he started to get used to it, he quit sweating in it ENTIRELY. I have no idea how this happened- possibly that he’s no longer unnerved by the helmet? He uses this helmet any time he’s roaming or on the floor, plying with his toys. I’ve seen this helmet protect his noggin from a bump, or worse, in excess of 15 times. This is a fantastic product and I encourage it 100% to any parents worried about a potential “thud.” Everything looked great and I was so excited for o get it on my 8 month old. 1. He can take it off easily, within 10 seconds. 2. His head was incredibly sweaty within a half hour. $40 was expensive for this helmet and then it can’t be used due to little ventilation.
