The best boat shoe for my needs....
I'm a shoe freak - I have dozens of pairs of most styles. My favor are boat shoes though. Once worn in, nothing compares to how comfortable they are. And, they're very versatile. That being said, I like old school boat shoes, not the newer cheaply made ones. First, the leather needs to be high quality. These have that in droves. The leather looks great and feels tough - like it will last a long time. Second and most important for me is that they need to be leather lined. Most brands have ditched this more expensive feature for cheaper, heavier padded textile linings. They may be better with socks (debatable though), but one area they clearly are not is being worn barefoot. If you plan to where barefoot, leather linings are a must. Much more comfortable and will not stink like the textile linings invariable do. Sperry used to make their AO's like this, but have gone the thinner leather and softer sole route. Now, your lucky if you get a year, maybe 2 out of them. These Sebagos will last much longer, giving you time to build a fine, bettering with age relationship with them. Trust, it is worth it. These are fantastic boat shoes.

Great boat shoe!
I bought these for my husband, who was looking to replace his beloved Dockers. He wears these without socks and I was worried about them being too tight after reading the reviews. Going from a well worn shoe to a new one, is always a challenge. When he first tried them on, they did feel too tight. So, of course I googled "how to stretch leather shoe". The solution we tried was to put a large baking potato inside the shoe for a couple of days. Sounds strange, but that's what we did. We sat them out on the deck in the hot sun for a couple of days, then took out the potato and let them cool in the air conditioning. Bottom line, they fit beautifully and he wears them nearly every day. We have a winner! I hope these will always be available, so when needed, I can just order online!

I ordered wide as in W in the fitting size - but it ain't - and so I can't wear it
the website adverted a W fitting - it was delivered as the standard narrower fitting - I can't wear itI have been buying Sebago W (wide) fitting shoes for years from Amazon suppliers - I do so because they're difficult to find otherwisebut why advert to a wide fitting on Amazon's website and then not supply it?Clownsand that applies to three pairs that I ordered in anticipation of my visit to the USA and upon which I've spent upwards of $ 500 - for sweet FAand of course having expected to be the proud recipient of three pairs of wide fitting shoes (this order was one of those pairs) upon my arrival in Texas, I find that none are suitableCNUTSand worse, I have no recourse since due to Covid, I was unable to travel within the time window allowed for returnsinterestingly Amazon obliges me to give a star rating as a condition of submitting this reviewthe minimum is one star which implies in my mind at least some degree of valuewhat use is a pair of shoes that are unwearable FFS ?

Five years and counting
Bought these five years ago. Don’t wear every day or even every week but whenever I reach for them they’re ready to go. Expecting great arch support? Look elsewhere, these are boat shoes. But if you’re looking for the quintessential boat shoe, appropriate for almost every occasion and comfortable for what they are designed to do, these are it. Durable and good looking. Would buy again and considering a second pair.

Sebago continues to make top quality shoes
Have worn Sebago shoes for years and find them to be of excellent quality and great for all day comfort. When it was time to get a new pair, I could not find my size in a narrow. It turns out, the regular fits great. I was concerned that maybe Sebago was slipping as some of the reviews were not flattering. Glad to know they are still making great shoes. Be sure to order a half size smaller than your regular size. I wear a 10.5-11.0, so I ordered in a 10.0 and the fit is perfect.

Mens Docksides by Sebago
Recently purchased Sebago Men's Docksides Boat Shoe for my husband. He has worn them several times a couple of hours at a time. However, we recently went on a trip and had to do a lot of walking. He developed a huge blister on his bottom toe and on the side of his ankle - toe on right foot, ankle on left. Don't know why this happened as it had never happened before. He has always worn Sebago Docksides for at least the last 20 years. We are from Ohio and had purchased the shoes from a local shoe store, but this is the first time I had ordered on line. Would this make a difference? Could the ones I ordered on Line be seconds? I always purchased the shoe like I said from the dealer in Ohio and several times was able to purchase them on sale ($80 compared to $100+).
