Required reading for competitive rifle shooters
If you are participating in High Power Rifle or John C. Garand matches, you should have this book, and it's companion. This book gave me many tips, tricks, and insights from a Master. Some of it was too technical for me at my level, or does not apply to me, and he tells a few geezer stories along the way. But I highly recommend his books. I will read it over and over. I purchased this book because I was looking for guidance on how to use the leather sling. It also will improve my positions greatly.

Its ok....
I understand this is one of the defacto standard reads for those new to 3 position shooting. I also have the author's other book on sight alignment.No offense to the author, but it could use less of the stories, and more instruction. Overall its okay. I'm new to 3 position shooting, but not new to shooting in general. Additional diagrams and/or photos on the prone position would be helpful.Consider it more like a textbook where you have to go back several times to pick out the important details.

Very useful for shooters and coaches.
I am so happy to see these books hit the Kindle store. I am a Hi Power rifle shooter as well as an NRA instructor and USA Shooting coach. I use the information in Mr. Owen's books all the time when introducing youth shooters to rifle shooting and competition. I also use them for my own improvement. If you are just starting out, these books are invaluable, if you are less than Distinguished or High Master, I'm sure they are still really useful. A wonderful resource.

good information; a good "how to" book
Good step-by-step shooting basics. Use of a sling in target competition is extremely important in rifle matches. Learning how to set it up and utilize it, therefore, is not to be treated lightly. This book goes into slings in depth.

Clean updated edition of an excellent book
Great book with an updated look. Had the original in spiral bound, and wanted to get the updated edition to support the M/Sgt. Have not had a chance to dig in to compare for updates but having clear diagrams and pictures makes it worth it already. Content is eye opening and will improve your set up, or teach you how to set up with a sling.

If you are considering taking up match shooting (National Service Rifle) then this is a great book for all levels of shooters. M/Sgt Owens addresses the subject in typical USMC no bull perspective, explaining what works and what doesn't when employing the rifle sling. Even an experienced individual can find some usable advice and lessons in this book.

A must-read for learning proper sling use
Excellent overview for learning your way around the leather sling. Full of great Marine Corps humor too. Section on shooting positions was a good refresher for me as well.

En Anglais, couverture souple.L'auteur est une référence dans le milieu.Les explications et les informations sont claires.Je n ai pas encore tout lu, mais je ne regrette pas l'achat pour le moment.Au moins un référence qui traite correctement de ce sujet. Public connaisseur !
