5-star value for the money
Please keep in mind that my assessment of this case is very closely tied to it's price. If I had paid $50-$100 for this same case (or even more, as many of the real leather fountain pen cases cost over $100), I would have given it a 2 or maybe 3 star rating. Having paid only $15 makes this case an excellent value because it is fully functional for many pens, but not all. For instance, you can't fit a Montblanc 149 in here, the elastic loops are just too small. I wouldn't even keep something like a Noodler's Ahab in here either, because if you do, then you'll only have room to use one side of the case, thus making it a 24 pen case instead of 48. However, for average size pens like a Pilot Metropolitan, Conklin Duragraph, Monteverde Jewelria, Visconti Rembrant, etc. this case will work great. A Lamy Safari/Vista/Al-Star is probably the largest size pen I would consider keeping in this case, and even though they fit I don't keep my Visconti pens in here because the material quality is just not quite as good as some other cases I have. Mainly I use this case for storing all my cheap Jinhao and Hero pens, and for that purpose (excluding the Jinhao 159) it works exceedingly well, which makes it a 5-star case in my opinion. If you're looking for a $15 case to house 48 fountain pens, my guess is you're not looking to house a bunch of Visconti, Omas, Delta, Montblanc, Edison, Namiki, etc. pens, you're probably looking for something to house significantly lower cost pens, in which case I believe this case will suit you just fine.

Not the bargain I initially thought it was
I had hoped to use this case to store and transport fountain pens. However, I found the elastic to be very tight and could only use every other space for my pens. Otherwise, it would have risked damaging the pens. If you have smaller-sized pens, this case is probably fine and will hold 48 pens. It's probably also fine for pens like markers. Also, there is some off-gasing of the materials, especially the elastic that caused the metal on my pens to tarnish wherever it was in contact with the elastic. I would only use it for very short-term storage for fear the gas could degrade the celluloid of any pens that are in contact with the elastic. I would not recommend it for vintage pens or any other delicate pens.Overall, not the bargain I initially thought it was.

Just what I was looking for
I own mostly inexpensive pens, so I have no desire to buy an expensive elegant pen case. I wanted one that worked. That's what I got with this case. It works. I can get my largest and smallest fountain pens inside. They are all held securely. I filled it almost completely, with just two spots left, and I'm able to close the case easily. And reopen it just as easily.

If you use it to hold 24 instead of 48 - add 1 star.
Now I see why I spend so much on Franklin-Christoph. The elastic seems cheaper. Is that really leather? smells like plastic. There is NO space between pens. So they will touch. 2 stars mostly because there is no space between pens and the cheap cover. If you have a bunch of cheap pens, this is fine. But I am alternates slots to keep pens from touching. So to me only a 24 pen case. Just on that fact, $23 for a half the advertised capacity is not bad.

Highly recommended for your pen collection
Having purchased many nice pens over the years, I was glad to find this case. The storage spots are a good size (even for oversized pens) and the elastic straps hold my pens very securely. I also like that the case is not fancy - no one would guess that it holds a great pen collection!

Fountain Pen Case Black Large PU Leather
Great case for fountain pen collectors! Holds thin to wide circumference pens, such as the older thin Cross pens and the thicker Jinhao X750 pens. I will definitely buy this again when I require another case.

Nice product for the price.
I got this to hold my ever growing fountain pen collection. The pens are held securely and the divider keeps both sides scratch free.
