Great purchase for price.
I mainly got this for Todd McFarlane’s art style, and this does not let down, the illustrations are clean and fully present on the page. I honestly prefer this one over the hardcover. Although the storylines in this book aren’t all too great, the phenomenal art quality and direction make the comics almost timeless. Definitely worth collecting.

Cool but
I bought this specifically because McFarlane’s art is so wild n crazy n sick-nasty. I really wanted to have this book front-side displayed upon a prominent shelf in my home or workplace, such that visitors could see I have impeccably discerning taste when it comes to fine art. So it’s a major concern that the cover of this book is just some generic Spider-Man crouching pose instead of that absolutely SICK pumpkin bomb battle situation we got up top. I know Jeff Bezos will do anything for a buck but I never thought he would stoop to Hobgoblin-based false advertising. Such unthinkable, unscrupulous behavior is par for the course for the billionaires of the world. The mere existence of such extreme wealth undermines democracy and destroys the working class. Tax the rich!!But yeah other than that this book is pretty cool.

One of the greatest comics of all time.
What adjectives can one conjure up when trying to describe Todd McFarlane’s approach to Spider-Man that hasn’t been said a million times before? Well, to use a word from the main man himself, it’s “cool”. The first issue of this comic series is one of the best selling comics ever. Todd McFarlane reinvented Spidey and comics in general. He became more popular than the character he was drawing. Marvel treated him like crap, despite him basically saving Spidey’s sales. This book represents the artist; the absolute best of what a comic book artist can be. McFarlane’s own Spider-Man series was merely a peek of what was to come with his own creation Spawn. The rest they say, is history.
