Great for grabbing hair out of my shower drain.
My wonderful wife has really long hair which is nice as long as it stays on her head but eventually gets stuck in the shower drain and the water backs up like a pond. When I see the water starting to slowly drain, I reach for my four claw tool and stick it down the drain, open and close the four claws as I push it in and pull it out. When I feel the clump of hair resist bingo, I pull it out and the drain is cleared without using a drain cleaner.

Just saved me a fortune in plumbing bills
Yesterday, my daughter dropped a toothbrush down the bathroom sink drain, and we spent at least an hour trying everything we could think of to retrieve it. I was resigned to having to call a plumber on Monday - it's a pedestal sink and the whole sink would have to be removed to get at the trap. But I kept searching online for ideas, and came across a forum where someone recommended this tool and provided a link to it. Since Amazon promised a delivery today I ordered it (thank you for delivering it this morning, Amazon!) and within 5 minutes of opening the package, I had gotten the toothbrush out of the drain. What a great product.

Just What I Needed!
I had a few plastic straws go down my kitchen drain that did not go down because of the curve in my pipe. I was able to get 2 out by sliding them up with a tweezer but there was a 3rd one further down that I couldn't reach. I did not want to attempt taking my pipe apart so I purchased a set of tweezer tools but they were too wide to fit through the drain sections. I happened to come across this doing a search and decided to give it a try. It worked!!! I'm sure I can use this for other hard to reach small objects. Very happy I purchased!

I can't have nice things but this makes me feel better about it
Where has this been all my life? Our toddler jammed two (2) toothbrushes down the bathroom sink drain. I was worried the claw grip wouldn't be strong enough to yank them out, but with just a little gentle coaxing I was able to retrieve two of the most disgusting toothbrushes I have ever seen in my entire life. (They were down there for a while) I was also able to retrieve broken bits of plastic (that used to be my measuring spoons) out of the garbage disposal. Very easy to use.

It's the little things in life
I have had one of these for maybe 30 years. It is being held together with a little duct tape and the occasional squirt of WD-40down it's rusty shaft. Every time I use it I smile. So simple, so cheap, so invaluable. I have been able to retrieve lost screws, things downthe drain that don't belong, and there is nothing better to use in cleaning out the dryer lint trap.I just "fixed" my mother-in-law's vacuum cleaner. She thought there was something seriously wrong with it, the lower hose was just clogged and my handy-dandy tool cleaned it out in no time. So, I am going to return the, now working, vacuum to Mom and give her my old retrieving claw for future clogs. That allowed me to get a new one, actually two (one for the garage, one for in the home). I just hope these last as long as my old one. It's like parting with an old friend...at least it is staying in the family :-)

Sturdy and well made
This one is better made than the previous two similar grabber tools I've owned. It is all-metal (no plastic on the push-lever) and the spring is strong and sturdy. The flexible tube is also strong. Both of my previous ones eventually failed because the plastic push-level handles fell off. I don't think that will happen to this one any time soon. The grabber is a 4-piece claw which extends slightly from the tube normally and extends about an inch when grabbing. The whole unit is 24", only slightly shorter than my previous grabbers but plenty long for most all of my applications. The hold of the grabber is strong.I typically use this tool during automotive and other repair jobs when I drop that small part down in some tight space, but also other things such as fishing out items dropped down floor vents.Highly recommend this item.

Another tool box must
How I've done handyman and auto repair work for this long and not owned one of these is beyond me. I've created home made grabbers out of coat hangers and God knows what. Anyway, all that misery -- when an inexpensive tool like this one has been there all along. For the cheap price I was expecting a toy that would sort of work. It's a heavy duty metal coiled flex handle with a long reach and great little claw. With a 24" magnetic grabber in my truck and now this little claw one, I'm much more prepared for that nut that falls down in behind one of my fenders (or whatever). This way, I don't have to take the Lord's name in vain. I'm probably the only guy who has cursed underneath a car before. Not. Oh, I bought the Tekton magnetic grabber from Amazon too. It's a goody.

Not what I expected
I ordered this as a gift for a friend and when it arrived I thought I'd try it out. First of all it's not really what I expected, in the picture it looks like it has a flexible arm, it doesn't. It's a giant spring wrapped in a thick wax, so it's very flimsy and hard to actually pick up an object. The claw is very small as well. I wouldn't really recommend this product to anyone looking for a decent pick up tool, I would go for one that is bigger and easier to handle.
