Used this gate latch on a 3m farm gate and it works great. Comes supplied with heavy duty bolt, it's robust and should last forever.

Fine for working farms and most adult, not good for care farms or children, rough and sharp edges, but for the price it's good value and fine for most applications

Catch does not return to its closed position. Item needs a spring to return it too it’s closed position

Having read the reviews, I was expecting problems with this kit.Bought this after not finding any other viable options for our garden gate. It provides us with a secure way to keep our gate shut when combined with a spring gate closer to prevent our six year old Daughter and rabbit getting out of the garden.Overall I am pleased with it, but I would say the product photo appears to be a 3D rendering rather than the real thing. The finish is a bit rough and it would be nice to see it smoother. When fitted, I did experience the problem with the handle keeping the catch open and in the space available, I couldn't use the included striker and had to make my own using a coach bolt and building up the thread area with J-B Weld 8267 SteelStik Epoxy Putty so the catch got pushed up more and when closed, the gate couldn't move forwards and backwards as much so there's no rattling.I added form a flat washers to either side of the catch after applying silicone grease and after a few days using the kit, it now closes consistently every time.If you are prepared to tinker, this will work well for you. With a bit more work, it could be better from the factory and less people would encounter problems.
