Works great my dad had one but I couldn’t find all parts
The nutcracker is great, and I love it. My dad had one, but I could not find the main part which is called the anvil, and it holds the Pecan in place . It works what it says so I looked online and I found it all over again made the same way pretty much so I bought a new one and I’m trying to get the part for the one my father had.

This works pretty good, but . . . .
EDIT: 11/22/2022 - The company has not returned my calls about the broken part. Very disappointing!Initial review:This is our second one of these (the first bought many years ago) and it is a great upgrade. But . . .the dowel used to pull the ram back broke before we had done 1/2 a cup of pecans. You can see it’s stump, in the photo. There were two other quality assurance “flaws.” The small pin, which holds the dowel into the base, was not "sunk,” and I caught my finger on it early on. Additionally, the metal cup/shield needed some work (sanding and silicon) before the two metal parts would slide smoothly. Now for the good news.We established a workflow to workaround the broken part, and promptly cracked 8 cups of pecan halves.99% of the pecans came out cracked with two whole halves. I’ll say it again, 99% of our 8 cups are whole pecan halves. Unfortunately, without the dowel to pull the ram back, cracking, at least for us, was a two person job. Not a bad thing.Even with the broken dowel and some questionable QA, it works so well, in "battle repair mode,” I still gave it four stars!Even with the broken part, I’d buy another one!

Best Pecan Cracker Around!
The ease of cracking pecans was wonderful. I have another nut cracker but this one cracks them in half the time. I did not have to destroy my nails trying to break the shells to get all the meat out of the shell.

Had one years ago.
Parents had this one years ago and I loved it. Once you get the hang of it you can crack nut like a pro and it will deliver them whole or for walnut in two halfs, sometimes whole. But I can go through a sack of walnuts, or other nuts in a quarter of the time without the exploding shells game. I went to borrow the parents nut cracker, but they had lost it. Took me years to years this one, because the place that sold them didn't have them, then went out of business. It is a bit of a love or hate though, if you love it, you love. If you don't understand the trick then it s a hate. The big trick is making sure you have the right rubber band or bungee cord to power it. If it is underpowered, it won't work. If itmis overpowered it will break the meat inside. But the good thing is the rubber bands that work are standard office issue so they are easy to find. Been doing the nutcrack cracker sweet since I got it.

How well it works
Like very well. Had another just like it. After about 25 years of use, it broke

Plusses and minuses, but in the end worth it.
Cracked over 3 pounds of nuts in a few hours. Getting the right amount of rubber bands on is critical to getting a good crack. I thought it was doing pretty good with two, but when I put a third one on things really improved. When the cracker arrived the rubber band for the anvil cover was broken and had come off in transit. It was not clear where the rubber band was supposed to go. After finally finding a video on YouTube that showed a good shot of the cracker in use I finally figured it out. The instructions could have been better. Also, the wooden peg on the sliding wooden part that is the hook for the rubber bands came out. I had to glue it in place. Wouldn't have thought that something so simple would missed during assembly.

The Texas Nutcracker is great, when it works!
This is a really good nutcracker, especially for pecans. We haven't used it on other nuts yet. I gave it to my husband for Christmas. He started cracking nuts the next day. It broke--came unglued, on the third pecan. He glued it back together with epoxy glue and let it sit over night to dry. The next day he was able to crack several pecans before it came unglued again. He used epoxy glue on it again and let it sit two days to thoroughly dry. Now it works like it should. Overall, we woujld give it an A+ rating, but we always wonder when it will fall apart the next time. Right now it is working great. He has shelled six quarts of pecans, mostly in halves. He has five more big bags to crack yet.
