Easy to install in a steel door. Sturdy and dogs love it
Update: the replaced power adapter seems to have fixed the door from lowering on my dogs. Also, regarding the weather proof aspect of the door, we have experienced one issue where the door would not open when/after it poured rain outside. I had to dry out the sensor and then it was fine. No issues since but something to be aware of with this product. Pros: So far, love the door. Our dogs already knew how to use a pet door, so training wasn’t tough. It is not super noisy and only scared our anxious dog for a little bit and she got used to it. The other one loves the door for some reason. One of our dogs has trouble holding her bladder all night and we just moved into a new home, so we wanted and option that would allow them to use a pet door while not compromising security in our home. So far, the dogs have had no issues. One thing I like is the door doesn’t seem to remain open if the dog remains next to it for a period of time. Door was very easy to install in our steel/glass door. My husband has some doubts about not using a professional but was not difficult when using a decent jigsaw and a metal rated blade. We have the larger size door for dogs up to 100 lbs, so the top part does occlude the glass a bit. Not that big of a deal, and not the vendor’s issue. The range adjuster on the door for inside and out is pretty nifty. Meh feedback: We ended up buying M5 collars separately because of the waterproof aspect. We kept the M4 as a backup because of the poor reviews folks had to say about the M4. Cons: We didn’t get screws or the power adapter with our order, so that wasn’t a plus. I do blame that on the shipping company though for manhandling they package. I am somewhat sure these two components fell out of the hole that was made in the cardboard during shipping. We have a power adapter that was rated for the same requirements, but the door says Low Battery. I had to purchase the company adapter from their page because you really can’t find one long enough outside of their company, and Amazon doesn’t seem to sell one with the same cord length. The door has ran into one of our two dogs using the door (not hard) two times, so I’m going to watch it and rerate after I receive the new adapter. If it still continues to run into the dog while she’s using the door, I will downgrade the rating and contact the seller. Hi Tech: if you ever read comments, one thing you really need to do is make the collar fobs fit normal collars. No one likes the crummy collars the fobs are sent with - they are junk. I had to use the zip tie approach to secure the fobs to the dogs waterproof existing collars. Also, I did know what I was getting into when buying the door with the cost total, but in all, we probably spent almost $800 for the door. Something to be mindful of if you want all of the bells and whistles. All in all, happy with the door. Time will tell - will revise if my review needs to change.

Easier than I expected, Works as expected!!
This product has been amazing so far. I expected the best at this price point and I was definitely not let down. Installation - With a hole saw and a jig saw you can get this done pretty quick. I think it took my neighbor and I about an hour and a half to install this and we did this with the door still in the frame. I took the outside piece (the smaller one) and centered it so the bottom of the opening was pretty close to my smallest dogs arm pit, put a level on it and traced it out. Used a hole saw for a starter hole for the jig saw (make a couple holes) and cut out the square. Once cut out I used a white waterproof silicone to add an extra barrier of sealant on the inside and outside pieces, this will also help with holding this in place as I have one of those really weird "Thermal" doors where its basically made of PVC and filled with foam so the screws only have about 1/4 inch of PVC to hold onto. Use - I have a Maltese (Dexter) and a Westie (Spencer), Dexter is a very skiddish dog and did not like to at first, the opening and closing of the door freaked him out and he would run away. There is a manual open button so I would press that and walk outside with a treat and no joke within 1 day they would use the door to go outside with me standing there and asking if they wanted to go outside. (I am still on day 2 of the door so I am not sure if they use it when I am not there but every time I ask if they want to go outside they use the doggy door and come back in) I will update in a week or so. Quality - You get what you pay for, its a great door. There are control knobs for each sensor so I have the inside sensor set a little lower so they have to be within 2-3 ft of it and the outside one bumped up like 2 notches so it opens once they get on the patio within 4-5 ft of it. Recommendations - I would highly recommend getting the battery for it, I am ordering one after I leave this review. It plugs in so if the power goes out your dogs cant go outside without you home. Security - The hole itself on the size I got is pretty small, a child would have a hard time getting through the hole let alone an adult or midget. The collars are "plug and play" so anyone with this type of dog collar could get it open but lets be honest, chances are slim someone would have the collar on them and even if they did the hole is super small they would probably use another point of entry... There are also buttons to enable or disable sensors so you can disable the sensors at night time if the dogs sleep with you if you are worried about security concerns. Overall - The product is great, I would just recommend having treats on hand and ONLY allowing your pets to use the new doggy door to go outside for a few days, once they get used to it the quality of life for your pet will go through the roof. Just like us they can decide to relieve themselves when they want to. EDIT : The collars come with enough "Strap" to fit on any size dog, once you install it, cut it to the desired length and then take a lighter to the frayed edge and squish it with your finger tips to keep it from fraying and pulling apart like a sweater...

This is an excellent product. Very easy to install in the wall especially with the tunnel attachment. It's very sturdy. A friend has had one of these for several years with few problems, which is why I chose this door. The door came with one battery operated collar which I'm quite happy with. I have a small dog about 10 pounds and this collar is the perfect size. I purchased the rechargeable collars as well but they're very bulky on the little dog. I am concerned about the customer service at High Tech Pet, however. One knob was broken off during shipping so I tried calling and emailing High Tech Pet about getting just the knob replaced but the phone number didn't work and I didn't get a response from them by email. Amazon's customer service, on the other hand, is fantastic. They offered to replace the whole door but I was hoping to hear from High Tech Pet about replacing just the knob but they never did get back to me.

THIS DOOR IS AWESOME. IT IS ALOT MORE SECURE THAN YOU NORMAL DOORS AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DOORS. THE ONLY THING THAT I WISH COULD BE DIFFERENT IS THE SPEED OF IT OPENING. SOMETIMES THE DOG NEEDS TO RUN OUT TO SCARE SOMETHING (ANIMAL,PERSON) AND THEY CANT GET OUT AS FAST AS THEY HOPED TO.
