Not Enough Wax Used
the only reason anyone buys waxed laces is if you have a pair of boots or shoes that constantly come untied. the wax keeps them from moving once you cinch them up and they will not untie until you untie them on purpose. i have a pair of boots i love (in 3 colors now) but the d-rings stop at the top of the foot rather than going up the ankle. so i couldn't cinch them tight enough on my feet to walk in them. the laces they came with were super cute, but flat and cotton, so they were too weak to secure the boot closed without slipping as you walked.i picked up a pair of Timberland waxed laces for only $5 a pair (don't know why they're double that on Amazon) and they keep the boot closed nicely. i have Timberland laces in 2 of the 3 but wanted to try this company with such a wide selection of colors. i know my moms Nike gym shoes annoy her b/c they come untied constantly too so i figured that. and i have another pair that won't stay laced, so i figured if they're anything like the Tims, this will be a solid investment in laces that will hold shoes cinched nicely without untying.well, these are thinner, so not as substantial as the Tims laces. and they have hardly any wax applied. these right away slipped from where i cinched them to while trying the boots on. compared to the Tims which are stiff because of he wax and therefore unable to slip once tied. so, despite waiting 8 or 9 days, and expecting something like the Tims, they're weaker in every way. had i never had the Tims to compare these to, maybe they'd be a 4-star, but if i could do it over, i'd wait until the next Tims sale and get the laces i really want. they were out of the black and blue in the sizes i needed so that the other reason i tried this company. they're fine, but b/c there is barely any wax, they really do not help the boot stay closed the way the Tims are on the other 2 pairs. these, 3-star, Timberlands, 5-star.

THESE are the shoelaces you want!
After trying several colored shoelaces from various vendors and in various sizes and lengths I FINALLY figured out which are the ones I want to keep using for my Oxford brogues. These.Thin, cotton, waxed shoelaces are the description and the style now. And please do NOT tie them like sneakers. I tied them in a "straight bar style" as shown in pic. FYI see Gentleman's Gazette online for lots of tips on men's fashion and how to look good. Women too. BTW a woman (and men, too, employers esp) will notice if you are well dressed. It speaks highly of you, gets you noticed, makes people think you have confidence, style. First impressions and all that...So.. on to the shoelaces :For dress shoes (not hiking boots or sneakers etc) you want the laces as thin as possible. See pic. The BLUE laces shown are Fabmania's "Round Thin Waxed Cotton Shoelaces for dress shoes/boots" on this page. The RED laces are also Fabmania but called "Waxed Cotton Shoelaces - 1/8" round - 13 colours - Lengths from 24" to 95" - Made in England" See the difference? Red are a little too thick for my shoes, hard to get thru the holes and does not look as good for "dress shoes". Also they're too long even tho the 36" said OK for these many eyelets (holes) - in this case five. I think cuz its a woman's shoe maybe the eyelets are closer together and need less length? For these woman's 5-eyelet oxford brogues a 30"/75 cm length is PERFECT!Love the colors themselves too - not brash or cartoon-ish. Bright but classy. How do you know what length laces to get??? esp if, like me, you tossed the frayed old ones already so cant measure? Or looked it up and got an array of answers... Go to this valuable shoelace site by the Aussie engineer Ian Fieggen (I cant give it to you here, but use his last name and the dot com after as usual). Not only does he have charts and diagrams and 8 x 10 colored glossies (well almost) illustrating the length you need/want based on the type of shoe, he also shows every conceivable way to tie your laces, bi-colored even, every step you need for any kind of lacing shoe! You can punch in the number of eyelets and the diagram changes per your needs. He even has Video demos showing how to tie the laces correctly if you're a visual sort. A wealth of info! THX Ian!Re FABMANIA - this company in England (NOT Made in China!) has been making shoelaces for hundreds of years, well a long time anyway, so they know what they're doing. I think it's just the right amount of wax - the laces stay tied and are not shiny or glossy. DO NOT get anything BUT cotton - it wont stay tied even if it looks pretty or is cheaper. NOT worth it. At something like $2 each, frankly, if you're going to bother you may as well do it right. Oh and get multiple colors while you're there - you'll be glad you did - Fabmania is kind enough to only charge one shopping fee (I paid $2.50 shipping for several pairs at once).Does it take a long time to get your order? No, not at all. I ordered 5 pairs on Oct 6th and received them in CA, USA on Oct 12th or so. As good as if they'd been shipped domestic. Cant complain! For that matter I think these are the best shoelaces available - they stay tied, look great, offer a wide choice of classy and different colors and all at a great price. What more can you want? HIGHLY Recommend!!!

Perfect for shoes with one hole on each side
I have a pair of shoes with just one shoelace hole per side, and the 18" laces fit the bill perfectly. They also fit in a pair with three holes per side, but it was pretty close to being too short. The 24" ones were great for those shoes. I love the colors! The width is also great - feels very sturdy and high quality. I was worried they would be really thin, but these are about 2-3 mm diameter, which is great. I've ordered several more pairs since I like changing out the colors.

Measure your old shoe laces first
These are great quality and came much faster then expected. The only thing I suggest, is to measure your current kaces to make sure you buy the right size. I ordered these and they were a little small for my liking.

Perfect Splash of Color
These are great laces. Perfect for 8 or 10 eyelet dress shoes. I like to mix it up at the office, you can only push things so far in a business environment, a brightly colored shirt, black slacks, black shoes . . . BOOM - splash of color. They all look great with black shoes. I got the gray and red in this order and came back to get 3 more 😃

Great product and price.
Great shoe laces. The laces on my $300.00 shoes were junk.
