My children LOVE this book!
I cannot speak highly enough about this wonderful book. It is meant to be read just as it is written and I started reading it to my twin boys when they were 4 years old. Immersing them in such beautiful language is such a gift. They never get tired of hearing the same stories over and over, especially "The Elephant's Child" with his satiable curtiosity! I particularly like this edition of it, because the illustrations are vibrant and interesting, without the book costing a fortune. Each story is very creative and I don't find it offensive at all. It was written in 1900, for crying out loud, and those kids turned out just fine, if you ask me. When your child gets to the stage where they never stop asking questions, you will especially enjoy the accompanying poem at the end of Elephant's Child. This is an absolute must have in any home library. When you read it, just make sure you use your funny voices to make the characters come alive.

I read these wonderful stories to my five year old daughter 40 years ...
I read these wonderful stories to my five year old daughter 40 years ago, we still remember them with such affection that I purchased them for her as a Christmas present. The stories were written by Kipling for hisdaughter and are called "Just So" stories because he would attempt variations when he told them to her..and she would interrupt him saying, "Oh no, Daddy..tell them just so.Sadly she died soon after these events. The illustrations are by different artista for each story so that adds interest to the publication.

How the Elephant Got It's Trunk....
...My childhood favorite - down by the great, gray, green, greasy limpopo river all set about with fever trees...

As advertised but less pictures than I expected.
I bought this book for an eight year old. The stories are written in text on pages with less illustration than I expected. I fear this may be a bit advanced for an early reader.

Enjoyable to listen to, but you are getting seven tracks.
This product's packaging can be misleading, but overall I am happy with the product. I only wish that more stories were included! When I received the audio CD, the back of the case lists six tracks (one introductory track which tells a little about the author, then five stories) but when I looked at the actual CD's label it has seven tracks (one introductory and six stories). Upon listening, this audio disc has seven tracks: introductory and six stories. I found listening to this particular artist tell the stories very enjoyable and loved how he managed to make the character voices very different. I anticipate listening to this disc with my daughter for short car rides.

A memorable childrens classic
This is a great book for any young person. The stories are beauitifully individually illustrated and the words are authentically and immaginatively the original words of Rudyard Kipling. An important point, as several"Just So Stories"seem to have been adapted for younger children , when the whole point is the poetry of his way of telling the stories . I loved them ,nearly 70 years ago, my children loved them & now the grandchildren are gripped by the telling of these tales. They are as much a pleasure for older people to read as for younger people to listen to.

Beautiful version of Just So stories
This is a great book. It has all the stories i remember from my childhood (How the Leopard Got His Spots, The Elephant's Child etc.) The colour illustrations are stunning. I can't wait to start this with my daughter tonight!

Beautifully Illustrated
A great collection - with a wide variety of illustration styles. Text is well laid out with enough spaces between lines to make a slightly easier reading experience for a child.

A Jolly Good Read
Bought this for us to read to my five year old grand daughter and two year old grandson as they have been used to these stories shown on children's TV known as Tinga Tinga tales from Africa and so far the book version has gone down well to the point that Martha is trying to read it herself. The illustrations are not that vibrant, but they do the job OK and although this is a book that has been around for a great many years it still does talk to the new younger generation, in fact it talks to us all.

Beautiful book, fab stories
My 6 year old loved this - especially the archaic 'best beloved' phrasing. It is for reading to children I would say, rather than self led.Great stories that will never be out dated.
