What you need to know
I took a huge chance on this and it was such a fail. I'm not even sure where to start.1) No manual focus.I knew that. But I'm pretty sure there is no auto focus either. I swear this thing picks the absolute opposite of you want to show and makes that better looking than what is right in front of it.2) Use as a webcam.Nope, they say you can use OBS to view and stream. Wrong. Not only does this device show up in the list to make you feel like you will be able to easily select it, when you do there will almost 95% of the time be nothing there but a blank screen.3) Use with a capture card.Pretty sure my choice in capture card is also to blame, but forget it, the device will not show up even hooked up to one. Even if you are able to successfully get an image, that image will only be there for a moment before showing a distorted signal and then becoming unresponsive.4) Please do not buy this item.If you have hopes of anything other than getting a cheap camera for terrible photo stills, or movie clips that come out looking like they were from a late 90's flip phone, just don't. You will get almost less than what you pay for. If you are really skeptical, go do a search or try to find anything on YouTube that is anything newer than 2 years old from 2017 at best. Even then the numerous mentions of old technology that is at best compared to something from 2006 should be a warning. There was a saying I heard elsewhere about not worrying about buying the latest and greatest but to try your best to get what you have to work as best as possible and focus on what you are creating to present. Well, this will not be the case here. At best I could maybe do pre-production video to post after the fact, but I really wanted something to help enable me to live present content and be able to interact. I have struggled for too long and wasted so much time even the price point is now insufficient to even the least I could have hoped for.Honestly, I don't like leaving reviews, let alone something so negative. But there is just no way I could let this slide. In addition, there's a little piece of paper asking to submit reviews, but to contact the seller or whoever if at first you are not satisfied. Yeah, no real details and I doubt the seller would be able to help anymore than the random people who ask product questions and the kind people who respond with answers mostly the best they can. Not even going to spend any more time trying to "get my problem solved" beforehand. I just want to return this item and be done with the whole ordeal.

Decent CamCorder....iffy web cam
For the money this is an acceptable Cam Corder. It's easy to use, point and shoot. The digital zoom works well. As a camcorder I think it works pretty well. The external mic does a pretty good job. It has a single focal length so it's kind of point and shoot but won't do really close up. Overall, I can't complain. As a web cam however it has much to be desired. 720p only. Acceptable but not great. Also, my computer recognizes it sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. I have the frustrating situation where my settings say the camera is hooked up and working but my video apps don't see it. I'm using a Dell i5 on Windows 10 and it's hit or miss. Sometimes it takes me several boots and reboots to get it working. Sometimes it works right away and there is no rhyme or reason to it. Very annoying. This has made video conferencing really problematic. This lockdown has hit me hard and I needed to get up and running remotely in a hurry. I mainly purchased this to use as a webcam because in the current shortage of webcams and the scandalous price gouging that's happening on Amazon right now there is no way I'm paying 4x for a logitech dedicated webcam. I'll wait until people come back to their senses.EDIT: I'm bumping this down to 2 stars which is a shame because the camera does take a really nice picture, but wow, The batteries are terrible. both batteries that came with this do the same thing. They take forever to charge and they don't charge fully, and then if you are doing long shots of 3 or 4 minutes plus, or you are using it as a web cam, the batteries nose dive to nothing really quickly which makes it kind of useless. If you are using it as a web cam it will "charge" while you are using it (but not really - it barely keeps the camera on). It's too bad! Having had a couple of weeks experience with it now, I'm even more dissappointed. Ugh.....

Caveat emptor
Funny how there's at least one other 3-star rating, yet I cannot see it.If you already have a smartphone, save your money. This unit may be fine if you have no other camera, but don't be snookered by the "Web cam" and HDMI out features. I tried this camera via USB ("Web cam") on three different computers running three different platforms (Linux, MacOS and Windows) and it is not recognized by any of them. So forget the Web cam. When you connect HDMI to a monitor, or maybe a switcher (like Blackmagic Design's ATEM Mini), the viewfinder on the camera goes blank, and the HUD overlays can't be shut off. So forget using this thing as an HDMI camera. Its one purpose is to be a cheap (not the same as "inexpensive") camera for someone who does not have anything else, and to serve as a playback unit—assuming you don't mind the viewfinder overlays on the video. How is it as a camera? Very noisy video—does not handle reduced light (forget "low light") well at all. By reduced light, I mean a typical office setting.Find something else.
