Scotch Extreme Shipping Strapping Tape, Designed for Your Toughest Jobs, 1.9" x 21 yd (8959-RD)

I purchased this Scotch Extreme Tape to build and protect some RC planes which I was in the process of assembling. Upon use and subsequent "testing," aka crashing, I found that the product is an extremely strong and well produced tape which not only does it's job in adhering to the substrate it is placed on, but also protecting it from shear and tensile forces. Placed on the wing of a foam airplane, it prevents hard impacts from breaking the wing off, or denting the foam beyond use. Very pleased with the performance of this tape in a somewhat non traditional usage of it.One item to note, is that while capable of cutting with sharp scissors when held taught, you will want to keep a rag and some form of solvent close by. The adhesive used on the tape also adheres to the scissors and after many cuts you will start to notice your scissors sticking to just about everything. A quick wipe with some goop off, or similar product, and your're back in business. The adhesive is in no way permanent and very easy to clean off the scissors.

Cannot buy it at any price in Loveland CO, so bought it mail order. Have used for decades. It is superlative for certain applications. It does NOT survive outdoor apps, or wet conditions. Also does not seem to tolerate high heat -- 90 f+ for weeks or longer. But if you use it wisely, I think it will do its job for decades.

I've been packing up the house for a move. I was using another type of strapping tape and noticed that where 'd taped up the bottom of a box with it was already coming loose - before I even filled the box. I came on here to see if I could find a stronger tape and tried this one - YES! It works great, is a bit "stickier" than the other type and STAYS. I want to know my boxes of delicate tea cups will arrive safely without the bottom falling out - this tape works great for giving me that confidence! I've ordered several and every one of them works great at sticking and holding!

Sticks way better than Scotch clear packing tape (which always seems to unstick after a few days). 4 stars because they really need to design a better dispenser - it's too floppy for such heavy tape, and the cutter isn't sharp enough to cut through the embedded fibers - the cutter actually broke off of my last roll, and I had to use a razor blade to finish taping up my boxes.

It's strong, and more importantly, quite light compared to something similar like duct/duck tape. After a few years the adhesive may dry out but it's easy at that point to remove and reapply. Of course it's ridiculously expensive but 1 roll has lasted me almost 3 years so cost over time is very reasonable.I wouldn't use this for anything mundane like packaging unless you're shipping something valuable far away. But even then duct tape is probably fine. For strength and weight savings, this is the benchmark tape.

Provides strength in both directions and sticks extremely well. Works great for R/C aircraft "hinges" and the fiberglass reinforcement prevents sagging and stretching in this application. If you use this on a box, the box material is likely to fail before the tape. Don't expect to be able to "tear" it. Sharp scissors or cutters are a must.

Best tape! This has fibers in it like duct tape but is different. It is a little transparent and I think it may be thicker but with a little less glue. It sticks as well (in fact better since I don't have it sticking to itself all the time like I do with duct tape) and feels stronger. It is expensive so I save it for heavy or expensive items. It is the Mercedes of packing tapes. I would bet this tape could hold bricks in a moving box!

I had never used this type of strapping tape before. The regular type did not have 2 day delivery so I decided to try this instead. The description made me a little hesitant because it sounded so powerful but I really needed strapping tape. My nearby store was out of it. Now this new strapping tape is the only kind I will buy! It is much wider which makes it easier to secure packages.
