K&F May Be Prone To Getting Stuck
OK first of all in terms of value optics K&F is really pretty good. This isn't about their overall product range. I actually find they have pretty decent quality control and such. The optics really aren't bad for the price. I tend to use them on my equipment I go hiking with and this is the first issue I've had with one. That being said... I just want to suggest shoppers check something on their filters. I think it's a design error or miscalculation. I have two photos. One is a B+W 77mm and the other a K&F 72mm (you can see "Olympus" in that photo). The K&F filter has a thin grip ring (for loosening and tightening the filter) whereas the B&W is designed with a solid one-piece grip. The problem with the ring is that the filter gets stuck and there isn't enough purchase to get a grip on that ring. It's pictured on an Olympus 12-100mm f4 IS Pro but it may occur on other models.I tried my filter wrenches and if you get one of these stuck you might as well not bother with those. I also watched all manner of videos about removing stuck filters. This design even if you manage to remove the top two rings and the glass that thin band on the K&F will remain stuck. Although getting the top two rings and the glass out isn't all that hard but it should be done very carefully.Just for an explanation. The ND became stuck on this lens first, then the lens fell out the pack and landed on the filter. It's a tough lens and now that the filter is partly disassembled it's working just fine. The filter cracked and got dented so it is stuck even worse now. Even before the drop though the problem was there. If you happen to have a K&F filter stuck on a lens and it has this super thin ring for loosening and tightening? It's my guess that the ring is also too weak. It can get slightly bent from normal use and become very stuck indeed. At least on the Olympus 12-100. I do have a friend though with a similar issue in a Nikon lens I'm going to look at. I'll elaborate in future edits. For someone looking at removal, I'll update this on what I find. Thus far I used a Milwaukee mini-hacksaw and very carefully filed some cuts into the top two rings (don't use it like a regular hacksaw, use it more like you would a file). This allowed me to remove portions of the main ring until the ring holding the glass came free. Once the glass is free all that's left is that thin ring at the very bottom. I didn't cut into that (so far) because it's too close to the actual lens and because it's so thin. I've got a couple of items ordered to see if we can now put a jig down in there and very carefully expand the ring until it's able to be turned and removed. You can't do that with the top two rings intact fyi. In terms of unscrewing the filter in question the top two rings are very much useless.Like I say, just look a bit closer at the filter design before buying. I'd steer away from this design with the skinny ring for tightening/loosening. I've dealt with stuck filters a lot for people and never had one like this before. Plus, the lens I'm trying to salvage lists for about $1200 so I'm adding a couple of other jigs people have designed. I will return and update my findings, but I expect I'll get it out eventually! All the items in question that I'm using are available on Amazon FYI.My guess is K&F will correct this defect and it is not present on all filters. A recall would be good but probably hard to execute. It might even be unique to their variable density models. So, if you are looking for inexpensive ND that's cheap but of good optical characteristics maybe go more with the fixed value models. Not a variable density model. I'm not someone who posts negative reviews all the time either I just really think they have a serious issue with some of their filters being prone to get stuck. It doesn't affect them all though. Their line of square filters should not have this issue. I have a set of those for my 77mm Nikon lenses and I may just avoid this sort of filter entirely in the future. You might still run into an issue but it's far easier to change filters with the 100mm or even 150mm square sets. I'd still probably recommend Lee over K&F but not because of the problem with this one filter. Really I'd recommend looking at how circular filters connect and disconnect on all makes and models. Avoid anything that is too skinny in that department. If you have a problem, you will have trouble using filter wrenches because they can't get a grip. One final note. I just added a photo of the glass removed from the filter. The point there is not to show the damage to it but to point out you should be able to remove it intact. Cut the rings it will come out. I can at least use the Olympus 12-100mm f4 IS Pro without a filter for the time being. I do think the filter saved the lens. However the damage didn't cause the filter to get stuck. More stuck maybe lol. It was stuck in the first place. Never dropped. No big impacts. Somehow that narrow ring for screwing and unscrewing the filter is the only piece still stuck. Having taken one apart I'm of the opinion it's too flimsy.

Awesome ND Filter
Great ND filter especially for wide aperture lenses, I use mine all the time in bright environments with no hit to photo quality. It is very well built and the adjustability comes in clutch. Highly recommended.

Good not expensive ND filter
the filter does the job.- I'm lazy to remove my UV filter and having that ND on the UV filter creates tiny vignetting. You can say it is not the ND filter but the user who has to remove the existing filter(s) he has. But from the other side, many people use protective/UV filter and then want in addition to use the ND. so this is a subjective point and I write about it as it is.- People report about some heavy black areas the filter creates on the image. It is there, if you don't know how to use the filter. If you turn the filter in the designed angle, the image is fine.- I do want to notice the filter is lacking marking of what position gives what ND level. It is also not clear from where and until where is the designed turning points. But this is a minor thing. To summarize, I think for the price it costs, comparing to non variable ND filter prices, this one is quite fine.

Nice & Sharp and Great Quality
I've used it once and I paired it with a 10 stop ND filter with this and I was able to set my camera set at 30 seconds, f11 and ISO 50 in the middle of the day but with the 10 stop I could only get it to 10 seconds, f11, ISO 50. I was surprised to see that when I got home to edit the photos there was no noticeable loss in sharpness with both ND filters on and this being a variable ND filter they're notoriously known to be less sharp than a constant ND filter. I can't wait to test this out on a waterfall but being that it's summer in San Diego right now I'll have to wait to try it out but along the coast I prefer the 10 stop ND filter and being able to drag that shutter longer. The front of this variable ND filter is quite large so your lens hood won't fit on there which can be an issue with unwanted lens flares but the K&F 10 stop ND filter I used with this you're able to mount the lens hood still. I received this filter free of charge to test it out so take my review with a grain of salt but if you do choose to get this I highly recommend getting a 10 stop as well because you'll be limited to 2-3 second shutter speeds with this alone at it's darkest setting in the middle of the day where the sun is bright like it is here in Southern California. I forgot to mention that there are notches on the side and tells you the minimum - maximum darkness and each stop between so there isn't any guess work involved but I do like the fact that I was able to set my settings I wanted and just rotated the front element until my camera read that I was properly exposed.

Great ND Filter that doesn't break the Bank
I'm a Professional and I've had 100's of lens filters over the span of a 30 year career. K&F ND Filter is as good as my highend, high priced glass at a very affordable price. As many are buying cameras that shoot both stills and video and you're looking for an ND but aren't sure what to buy... you will be very happy with K&F ND Filters.I strongly Recommend this Product

bad product, I hope it's a defective
The media could not be loaded. Hello.I am using two Canon 70-200 f2.8 L and 24-105 f4 L lenses. So from 24mm to 70mm the filter at maximum close (ND 2000) does not work. I'm disappointed because it's not working on wide angle for landscape. Photo attached

Great quality for the price but the ring is hard to turn
The filter is great for the lens. Overall image quality is great but..- The rings to stop down the filter is quite tight and hard to turn, sometimes it will cause the filter to start loosening on the lens and it's becoming quite annoying. Maybe with time it'll become more easy to turn?- When stopping down really low, like at the lowest level the darkness will be uneven on the image and there will be black spots on the image.Otherwise a good filter for the price.

You get what you pay for
This filter leave some Darker blotchy areas in your photo, unlike any other polarizer filters I have used in the past. I don’t know if it’s expected of this filter or it’s flawed.

Great Buy!
Very happy with this purchase. I love the fact that it is variable giving me more control in one filter. It ses to be made of good quality and as the K&F Concept CPL filter I bought, it is definitely great value for the quality and your wallet if you are looking for a great mid-ish grade filter. Happy purchaser :)
