Totally LOVE these pencils
Totally LOVE these pencils. I have been trying out all sorts of pencils to find an affordable solution to my obsession over coloring books and coloring media. These WONDERFUL pencils do the trick! I have a full set of Prismacolor Premier pencils and I adore them. These come in a close second! The only drawback I had with them is that I want full sized pencils :-) (I'm a greedy colorista) The color goes down on the page nice and smooth. It takes very little effort/pressure to get great color. Folks with hand issues like arthritis or carpal tunnel will appreciate that. (I know I do!) The 785 set is more traditional colors. They make a neon set that has more vibrant colors. I love both sets! The neon set DOES come in a full-length pencil set of 60 pencils. I am waiting for the 785 set to come in the full set of 60 and then getting both. :-). The only minor criticism I have for the neon pencils is that they are in Thai. They do have a number system, but nothing to correlate the numbers with. That would be a nice addition in future sets.

Good pencils but...
Good pencils overall but there are a couple of drawbacks. First the good. The color seleciton is quite broad for a 30 pencil set due to the double-end nature of the pencils. The pigment is very rich with lots of bright colors. For me at least, they sharpen to a good point and hold it for quite a while. Blending the pencils with one another works quite well. Now the negatives. Since the pencils are double-ended, you are only getting 1/2 a pencil worth of any one pigment/color. This means you are likely to run out of your most often used colors much more quickly that single color full-sized pencils. The pencils come unsharpened. By the time you hand sharpen 60 points, you have lost even more of the pencil, especially if you happen to have one or two that are stubborn and break off while sharpening. I did not have this issue but some of my friends who purchased the same set did. Thus far, I have not experienced any crumbling cores but again friends have had this issue as well. Overall, the pencils are quite nice with rich, vivid colors and are a pretty good deal. I do not regret my purchase. I even bought a set for a coloring friend.

Breaking leads
I just got these because i have heard great things about them but im having a huge issue with them, they do not come presharpened and they break A LOT when sharpening. I have hardly colored with them at all and one of my greens is almost gone because it keeps breaking. I've tried multiple pencol sharpeners all hand held and im very gentle with pencils being as im used to prismacolors. I dont know if its a bad batch i got or what but im very disappointed in these pencils.

Points break frequently
The points are constantly breaking off of these pencils. They are extremely soft and and difficult to layer properly since you can barely press on them. Also, I did not understand that they were double pointed and only got 30 pencils in a box. They do have some interesting colors.

I got this set to use as my travel pencils but fell in love with the colors & ended up ordering the full ...
These Colleens take quite a while to ship, but are worth the wait! The colors are bright & the leads are soft & creamy. The wood casing is hard & a bit difficult to sharpen the first time. I start them in an electric sharpener & finish them off with a handheld one. I got this set to use as my travel pencils but fell in love with the colors & ended up ordering the full size pencil set as well. Note: this set has colors that are not in the full 60 color/ 60 pencils Neon set. Most of the neon colors are dry & don't stick to the paper like the other colors do. I believe there are 6 neon colors in 3 dual-ended pencils in this set. There are more dry neons in the set of 60 full-sized pencils & fewer of the creamy but bright other colors. This set is the best!

Very nice pencils, and good value.
Ok, I really like these pencils. However, I'd be much happier if they were one color per pencil rather than two. Other than that, good value. Colors lay down well, and there are lots of good reds. It took me quite a while to make a decent color chart because of the double points. Also, I won't be able to use these standing up in a cup because I won't be able to see the bottom end color, so these will have to live in their box.I did not have the trouble with broken leads as others have reported, and I'm going to blame rough shipping on the broken leads.I made the mistake of ordering the NEON set, rather than the regular set. It seems that both sets have most colors in common, so it's not too big a deal, but if I reorder them, I'll certainly get the regular set next time.Again, I quite like these pencils and am happy to add them to my collection.

Superb pencils for adult coloring books!
Ever since I got into the coloring book craze, I've been in search for the perfect medium. I have a collection of sakura gelly rolls and staedtler fine liner colored pens. Although it's fun to color with it I still wanted the challenge of creating dimension to the images that I switched to colored pencils. I splurged on polychromos, irojitens acquiring their full set. I felt they are better applied on stonehenge paper than on coloring books. So I've been on the search for colored pencils that work well on regular paper. My search is over Colleen pencils are it!Got it today. Tried it on regular paper and it went down smoothly. The color lay down was great. Blends very well too. Color payout is so good for a student grade pencil it's comparable to artist grade pencils. The core though is not as hard that it crumbles when applied leaving dust on your work. For the price and variety of colors you get this is a superb choice for adult coloring books.
