What is the Size of the mounting holes, looking to use black coated rivets to mount

There are two lengths of screws. I do not have the mounting screws near me at this time, but there are 2 sizes about #6/1/2” and a longer which is about 1”. They are black to match the magnet rubber and countersunk fora smooth fit. I am mounting in my car with heavy duty mounting tape. Hope this helps.

Will these obstruct the pistol with a red dot optic mounted to them?

Depends on how you mount the magnet. I put one of the magnets in my car near my shifter (center of the car) and the pistol mounts the magnet on the side. I can grab it easily and if I had a red dot it wouldn’t be an issue

Is the black cover a hard plastic like the furniture on an AR, or soft and rubbery like a dish-drying mat?

They are not hard plastic, but they also aren’t as spongy as a dish mat. They are covered in a tacky, slightly cushioned, type of silicone. They work great, no worries about them scratching anything
