Getting Ready for Marriage Workbook

This workbook was described as "Condition: Used - Like New - Small damage on cover." This "small damage" was a tear in the cover and the last chapter (13 pages) of greater than 2 inches. This is not some small damage on cover (e.g. a blemish on the cover). I am disappointed in the condition of the workbook. We plan to use this to counsel young pre-married couples in order to prepare them for successful marriage, and I will need to buy a new copy for my use for this purpose. I will not be returning the book, since it would cost more than simply discarding it, but I wanted to warn future buyers that this seller may, at times, under report damage to products. The book is in "like new" condition except for the rip across and through the last chapter which extends through the cover. But that means you should not be classifying it as "like new." (see photos) I trust this seller will no longer provide misleading or incomplete descriptions in the future. That is my hope. I hope this is helpful to both the seller and future buyers, that is my goal in writing this.

Not quite what I was expecting.

Very disappointed that the sample sent is one paragraph of the workbook=the rest is marketing for their multi product line. It appears to lack substance or they would allow to preview more than chapter one; first paragraph.

Good Tool

A useful, accessible tool for exploring the myriad of issues facing a couple moving toward marriage. The authors' writing style is very accessible and informal, but full of useful statistics and stories to support the importance of the subject material they bring up. The workbook is designed to bring up important subjects, and then allow the couple to explore them together. It doesn't necessarily prescribe what to do with the information you discover about yourselves, although it does offer cautions for somethings. Recommend it for couples, and counselors doing pre-marital work with a couple.

I should have done more research...we will still work through and use this book as a resource but I did not realize there would be heavy Christian tones in this book. We are spiritual in our own way as a couple, but are also very liberal in our worldview. We will adapt the book to fit us, but it's certainly not the best resource out there for couples with a more modern take on life and relationships.

This book is used. The cover feels as if someone was rubbing a cinnamon roll all over it.

My fiance and I have been working through this workbook and other books from Focus on the Family for pre-martial counseling and I absolutely love it and recommend it to all couples to do before they get married. It has brought up so many good talking points that you wouldn't normally think about and I am so grateful for this book! If you are about to get married and want something to go through with your partner, do this workbook and the other pre-martial books from Focus on the Family they are amazing! You won't be sorry!

Helpful and clear exercises for my fiance and I to reflect on and discuss together before our wedding. I'd highly recommend going through all the questions and chapters. Although it is a Christian perspective, the topics and questions brought up can apply to everyone.

The questions are quite insightful. My man and I were really able to dig into some important questions by writing down our answers first and then sharing them with each other.
