After standing in stunned silence for what seemed like an eternity
I've used this dispenser for about 2 months as a vessel to support a continuous kombucha brewing set up. It has performed well in that regard, however its true utility was proven this morning. I keep the jar on top of my refrigerator (a 3-gallon dispenser tends to get in the way when left on a kitchen counter 24/7.) During the morning hustle, the jar was accidentally knocked off its perch by a hurried spouse. Time slowed as I helplessly watched 3 gallons of liquid plummet to the ground, an unstoppable wet comet screaming towards an inevitable catastrophic impact. The jar fell, impacted the ground, and shattered... the floor beneath it. Amidst a shower of delicious 'booch, bits of ceramic tile and mortar sprang from the newly formed crater and peppered my ankles and the walls with a shrapnel-like effect. After standing in stunned silence for what seemed like an eternity, I sprang to action after my dogs broke me from my stupor as they rushed past to slurp up the fizzy brew. I grabbed them before they could get to any, fearing they might ingest broken glass. But then I noticed there was no glass. Not a single piece. The jar was completely in tact. This 30-ish pound jar of glass and liquid fell from 6 feet onto a tile floor and survived... without a scratch. Not a chip, not a crack, not even a blemish was found. The only indication of the event was a very wet floor and a completely demolished floor tile. 4 beach towels and a mop later, half of the evidence was erased. It almost goes without saying that I'm still in shock. This dispenser is built like a tank. I will continue to investigate the jar's utility given its new found capabilities. Potential experimentation includes use as personal protective equipment, vehicular armor, and nuclear radiation shielding.

Side of container shattered on second use!
If there was a minus star selection I would have selected that! This is a dangerous product and should be totally recalled! the glass is incredibly thin and it amazing that it even arrived in one piece! I was only able to use it for one batch of kombucha without any lid. Upon refilling the jar with very lukewarm sweetened tea the side of the jar just shattered, spilling the whole 3 gallons out onto our floor, and shards actually cut my hand! OMG! I've been working with glass containers for decades now, both in homebrewing and other beverages, etc. but this is the very first that has just proved to be totally defective and not suited for any use whatsoever. If they were to make this jar about twice as thick it would be comparable to better quality containers.
