Laugh out loud, but also dead serious
I feel like Phoebe is an actual friend of mine (she's not, even though I live for her IG feed!) - Her tone in the book is conversational, light and extremely funny - even when covering serious topics like race, and intersectional feminism. She brings you into her world in a super intimate way, but just before she gets too serious - she launches into a ## hashtag laden rant. Did I laugh out loud on a cross country flight scaring the others in my row? YES. Did I learn something about how to be more inclusive in this world? YES YES YES Am I now obsessed with her podcasts (2 Dope Queens and Soooo Many White Guys)? YEEEEPPP. This girl is so honest, real and funny. I'll be preordering all of her future content....

Nah
Generally I enjoy a book with some underlying tie-in plot line along with the humor. If you like books like that, Jenny Lawson for instance, this isn't the book for you. It almost seemed like pages and pages were "filler" to meet an editor's need for number of pages. Mid-book was painful to read, eventually I skimmed and gave up. Ultimately, the majority of our book club said they had to do the same thing. If you are looking for the next Jenny Lawson, keep looking.

Super Smart and Fun
Clever and deceptively thoughtful book. Phoebe is a wonderful person and this book is a blast through her mind and world. Love it! It's an easy read for people who want their books brainy.

Ummm Phoebe seems to be way ahead of everyone on BLM
Loved this book. Came clean in great condition. But it touches on many touchy issues such as feminism and BLM without being depressing or preachy. She's really fun to listen to. I gave 4 stars because at times, the tangents she goes on can be a bit much. Might distract from the topic she brought up. But usually always goes back to the topic. Just need to skim over some paragraphs. Overall, love this book and so glad I bought it!

Genius at the time of its writing
I loved Two Dope Queens Podcast and I loved this book. It is a bit distracting that there are #hashtags worked into the prose, but it works as it was intended. This choice will likely date the book over time, which is too bad. There are so many blazing and funny cultural references however that dating may be unavoidable in this style of writing anyway.

Everyone should read this!
A holy grail. Phoebe covers so many important topics in this book, such as racism and feminism and manages to do so in a way that is light-hearted, funny and witty but also keeps it very real and honest, aka there are so many problems in the world going on right now that we can all help to change. Phoebe also gives a perspective into what it's like to be a black woman in (another) industry that's dominated by white-males. I think people of every race + gender should read this book, because you could definitely learn something. There are so many hilarious hashtags, abbreevs, anecdotes and references that had me in stitches, ooooh and aaahh moments. It's also one of those books that makes you feel warm inside, and ok with some of the difficult or embarrassing situations you've had to face. You end up feeling like Pheobe is a friend of yours. Pheebs if you're reading this, I wish we were friends!
