Information is 5⭐️ but Print Quality is not
So far the information provided in this book is easy to understand and higher caliber than a lot of information I’ve found online; that is to say, I think this book is worth getting if you’re an aquarium novice or intermediate because it introduces topics that aren’t very glamorous or concisely converted on YouTube but very necessary considerations for ultimate success.I wish the coverage of low-tech setups and high-tech setups was a little more equal as I have a lot more questions and interest in low-tech than high-tech, but I understand that the author has a preference for more high-tech setups, and there is still a lot of good information about how to achieve success with low-tech setups. My one major gripe with this book is its print quality. In my photos you can see there are stray lines on roughly 1 out of every 10 pages. The lines do not correspond to photos on the reverse side of the page or anything, they’re just there for some reason.Meanwhile, the physical construction quality is very nice—pages are thick and glossy and the hardcover spine is good enough.

The perfect overview all in one place
It condensed about 100 hours of research into one easy-to-read book. I’m not sure what issue the negative reviews are actually based on, as the layout quality and writing are excellent. If you follow the advice in this book, you’re going to be ahead of 95 percent of those dabbling with the hobby for the first time. Massive props to Farmer for dedicating his life to this, and doing so in a way designed to build people up, and promote the therapeutic aspects of the hobby. It’s not a competition.

Beautiful Basic Beginner's book to aquascaping
You should read the negative reviews; they are true, and I'm sure the disappointed people who wrote them must be quite experienced and advanced in the hobby. There are several typos in the book and yes, the layout could have been much better, but for beautiful pictures on glossy paper and good basic information, the book is worth the $20-25 charged. I am writing this from the perspective of someone diligently pursuing the hobby for 15 months and doing so on a limited budget, studying everything I can get my hands on, learning as much as I can for the next few years, with the reward being a 150 gallon custom planted tank to set up and maintain in my retirement years. It reads as if George is giving a beginner workshop on aquascaping with the ending showing step by step setting up of several <20 gallon tanks. As an example, I am soon to start using CO2 and will be able to use the chapter in this book for knowing what to buy and getting started. Is it exhaustive on the subject? No, but it will get me started. The plant list at the back is excellent and greatly appreciated. Regarding the person who reviewed the plant list negatively, I am sure she is already experienced with the different plants, and there are more pictures than just plants in a sealed container. I, on the other hand, find it immensely helpful to have a list of easy to grow plants, medium effort, and advanced difficult plants to grow, with pictures, all in one place. I know I will use that as a reference many times in the future, as I have been learning the hard and expensive way by buying and killing in my low tech tanks. There is a distinct impression that George is "selling" specific brands in the book. However, if one were sitting down and having a chat with him and one asked what he used, he would tell you, "I use "x"." "That's really expensive." "Yes, worth it, but you can also use "y" brand to get started, moving into "x" when you're ready." For this reason I am not offended at the feeling of sponsorship. I don't know that the book will rank for all times as THE book to buy on aquascaping, but I am not disappointed to have purchased it and will use it many times as a reference.

The best aquascaping book out there in my opinion
Really good aquascaping book and well worth the money (actually extremely good value compared to others). It’s a very well designed and produced book with good printing quality, which is important for all the original photos included. For experienced aquascapers you’ll enjoy the story George tells and the photos for inspiration, for beginners it’s perfect as it includes all the information you need to start. Very pleased with it and highly recommend to anyone interested in aquariums.

Beautiful book on aquascaping
I pre-ordered this book and waited six months for it, but it was worth it. A lovely book, beautifully written, edited, illustrated and produced. A mine of information on aquascaping, materials, plants, fish, maintenance , step by step guides, inspiring content. It will go in the hall of fame section of my fishkeeping bookshelf, alongside Amano's Nature Aquarium World, Findlays Art of Aquascaping and Randall's Sunken Gardens.
