Kong's Bone
My lab destroys all dog toys that are not well made. Kong's rubber bones had withstood my lab and she likes them too. She carries them around with her. As her toys go one by one, Kong bones have lasted and become one of her favorite babies. She has two of them now. Red and black. Great product.

Durable toy?
Got this kong toy for my pitbull who is able to break all his toyslike the Kong ball. he's just had it for about 3 days now and been ableto break small pieces off it. But, it has outlived any other Kongs I'vegotten in the past. SO FAR!!!!!

Aggressive chewer, lasted 2 years!
This is the second of these I've purchased. This one is an inch or two shorter than the last one. My dog is 2.5yo, 60lb and an EXTREMELY aggressive chewer, especially when he was younger. I mean like a shark (jaws music background) or maybe a velociraptor (cue Chris Pratt!) This bone held up for 2 years which is really remarkable!! With the weight on the ends, he likes to swing it from side to side and, pardon me, break its neck. It finally died because it ripped and an end was about to come off. We bought a second one right away because he loves it and we love the little raptor. (His name is Blue btw)

Less than 1
I purchased a Kong Extreme Dog Toy at Tractor Supply and it lasted for several weeks with no signs of damage and then my dog lost it. So I went on the search for more Kong Extreme toys for powerful chewers on Amazon. I have a 60 lb. American Straffordshire Pit and he is a fierce chewer. Most chew toys can make it for a day with some damage but by day 2 the fun is over. For him because the toy is torn to bits and for me because I have to pick up the remnants. I have learned not to get him anything fuzzy - he will rip the fuzz off and I have learned not to get him anything with a squeaker because he will not stop chewing until he finds the squeaker and rip it out.He had the end of the Kong Extreme Goodie Bond Dog Toy off in less than 30 minutes and that was alternating between the Wubba toy for fetching and the bone for chewing, I can tell the Wubba isn't going to last anytime if I let him sit down and chew on it so I had to keep taking it away from him. He likes to catch but he doesn't like to fetch. When I took the bone out of the package I was more worried about the center as it seemed very flimsy and I had doubts it would make it but my dog concentrated on the holes on the ends (with no snacks in them) and when he laid down to chew on it, he was able to rip the end off in a matter of minutes, This is also listed as for power chewers.I have other Kong toys I have ordered for him because he loves to play and chew but I can hardly afford to pay $8 to $10 per toy for him to have half a hour of chewing fun.I went back to TSC for a Kong Extreme Dog Toy and I tried one of the classic Kongs. The classic had one end missing in less than an hour.A Pit Bull breeder said the only thing he has found his dogs can play with and not destroy are bowling balls. He keeps his dogs in kennels and in a barn and my dog is a house dog so since I don't live in a bowling alley I know that I would wind up wishing he would only chew it up instead of roll it into every piece of furniture or a wall.I had such high hopes for the Kong Extreme but it is said to have a dog get attached to a toy then have to take it away from him every ten to fifteen minutes because a power chew toy can't hold up to chewing.Off to find an alternative to Kong,,,,, one toy out of five holding up is not a good recommendation and very expensive to try to find something the dog can enjoy and not destroy.

Strongest gnawers may need to go up a level in durability
We recently acquired a "verrygudboye" who loves to chew on things. Kong products are known for their durability, so we tried this one. Well, maybe I should have paid closer attention. I stuck some chicken jerky pieces into the ends and let him work on it. About 20 minutes later, he brought it to me proudly, having chewed off half of one end to get the treat out. Now, I think most normal dogs will do fine with this, and if you have a strong, heavy, persistent chewer like mine, maybe use a soft treat that they can slurp out. I had some hard jerky in there and when he couldn't get it out he just chewed the end off. The dog seems to be a basset-lab mix. Head and torso of a lab, very short little legs. You have to hand it to him for determination.

Upgraded from puppy version
I upgraded to this bone after my lab puppy chewed a chunk out of the blue puppy version. We knew she loved these bones, especially when we stuffed the end for her, so we chose to skip the original red version and go straight to this heavy duty one since she is currently in a chewing phase. This is considerably larger than the puppy version, but we intentionally chose this size for her to grow into. While it is a touch large and heavy for her currently, it doesn't stop her from carrying it around the house. Overall, we love kong products and this is no exception.
