Great sound in imperfect body.
Being new to in-ear earbuds I tested those at £79 against TOZO T12 (£27), Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 (£52), Sennheiser CX 400BT (£99). Let's start with negatives:- yes, the box is simple and buds do not always align well within.- yes, it is difficult to distinguish the left bud from the right.- yes, they feel a bit cheap.- yes, the buds' buttons need force to click which can be painful but can be mastered.- yes, the left needs the right bud out to work.- yes, there is no equaliser or balancing in the app.BUT:- after few hours of breaking in following Yamaha recommendations buds sound amazing (use headphones breaking videos on youtube). Warm with plenty of depth (including bass) and clarity. I actually find them somehow similar to excellent Philips Fidelio X2HR open headphones run through valve preamp. Then there is a clever Yamaha Listening Care which allows enjoying music more at lower loudness levels.- the blue colour is nice.Mind it is all subjective so test them. I am keeping them.

Very clear but lacks bass and uncomfortable controls
Samsung Adapt Sound (Samsung's mobile phone graphic equaliser) shows a roll off of bass frequencies and mild boost to the upper mids and treble however the true sound technology which alters the frequency response according to volume may have an effect here since the bass sounds fuller than depicted (though still on the light side). I take a medium or large tip and had to switch the default medium to a large to get a good seal and bass response. The large tip made the buds a little more noticeable in the ear than would have been my ideal however also kept the buds secure even without using the supplied wing sleeves.Vocals are particularly clear and cymbals well etched though male vocals have less fullness and richness than from the Sennheiser CX400BT on account of the less present bass (earbud live recordings on my Amazon profile). Those who prefer a more analytical sound with voices brought to the fore and isolated from bass sounds may favour the Yamaha over the more intimate 'voice in your ear' presentation of the Sennheiser. The soundstage is wide with instruments appearing to come from beyond one's head.Loudness is sufficient though I had to set the volume on my S7 to maximum on some tracks so those with less good hearing or who choose to listen very loud (be careful) may occasionally have an issue. The photos show the size relative to i10 AirPods style buds and the CX400BT.There is a physical soft switch under the Yamaha logo which requires not inconsiderable pressure to activate causing discomfort as the bud is pushed into the ear canal. Skipping requires a 2s press and skipping backwards just rewinds the current track and two consecutive 2s presses are required to actually skip backwards which is both slow and uncomfortable. While the sound is clear and balanced, with particularly good vocals and treble energy, and the comfort and security of fit good, the discomfort caused by the switch control and control format unfortunately make this model in the Yamaha earbud range practically less attractive to me than competitors.

Sound quality alone is worth the price (especially when on sale)
Got it when it's on half price. Coming from a BASN Bmaster and AKG K612, and this being the first ever wireless buds I've invested in, it sounds really good with pretty decent passive sound isolation, with the sound balance being a bit on the bright side, but still thoroughly enjoyable.Word for caution, sometimes it takes time and patience to line up the conductors on the buds and in the case for it to charge properly, and it's does not have the best built in mic for phone calls especially with good amount of ambience in the background i.e. on the streets. Also noteworthy for those with small ears, the shell of these buds may cause quite some discomfort.

Broken after 2 months
I actually can't believe this product was sold at this price at in the state it is. After only two months of relatively infrequent use (three or four times a week), it has stopped charging all together. When it was working, there were frequent Bluetooth connection issues but I could overlook that. I have since tried using multiple cables and chargers to sold the problem but no lucky. They haven't been dropped or had water damage or anything. Very annoyed as its past the refund date and I cant get my money back. Disappointed in Yamaha

Extremely Comfortable and stay put
Actually thrilled with these. Soft and comfy to wear. Gave my Apple ones to my daughter cos they hurt my ears. These are brilliant, a very reasonable price point and give sound good enough for most people. They stay in place during a fairly energetic HIIT so I am happy.

Could be better
For a brand like yamaha I was expecting much better. The overall build quality of the buds and charging case are OK. But that where it ends the sound quality is very basic & Very little bass. The app control only allowing you turn on and off istening care and timer mode.

Good value for money
Sound quality is unexpectedly good for this price. Comfortable wearing them with spare parts provided.

Big disappointment as for Yamaha product.
As a long time user of Yamaha music equipment, I am disappointed with these ones. Both earbuds connect themselves separately via Bluetooth, first as left and second as right one. Quite often I could hear either left or right. Connection to Yamaha MusicCast was not possible. They are well made, almost like for military use. However, placing/removing them from dock/charger is clumsy. They fit well, and reduce outside noises quite well. Sound quality is mediocre. Bass barely present. To me, only reason to buy them again would be using for podcasts while gardening.I returned my one.
