Q: Full disclosure; are these really even necessary for riding lawnmowers?

Hello Jmc, and thank you for contacting Oregon Tool. A properly balanced blade will operate much smoother than an unbalanced blade and will cause less wear on belts and spindles. Checking the balance of a blade can be achieved with a peg / nail that is stuck in a wall or post, but using a tool that is specifically designed for the balance of a mower blade will insure a more accurate balance. Q: what is the widest diameter hole this will fit? I'm trying to balance a blade with a 2.06" hole in the center.

I was wondering if someone who already purchased one of these Oregon balancers could measure the diameter of each cylinder on this balancer and post them here. I'm assuming that you'll use a digital caliper for this purpose, I'd prefer if you'd measure them in the metric system, for e.g. 8.26 mm, 9.57 mm, etc., but of course, I will be very happy for the numbers if they're in inches.I need these numbers, because I do believe, that this balancer will only work for you on the satisfactory level if the diameter of the given cylinder that your blade could still slide on, it is exactly the same size as the center hole of the blade minus 0.1-0.2 millimeters. If the difference is more than that, the blade won't be sitting exactly in the center of the cone and the whole thing looses its purpose.The blade of my lawn mower happens to have a 19.6 mm diameter center hole, therefore ideally it would be the best if the diameter of the given cylinder of the balancer would exactly 19.6 or anywhere between 19.6 and 19.4.

Q: So what is the verdict, on blades with star holes?
