A really helpful overview of the principles of design systems
As a product manager working in a company with an emergent design system, I found this book an incredibly helpful introduction to the considerations our UX designers make when designing new components. If your job is to secure budget or buy-in for a design system project, you’ll find lots of supporting material here!I would have loved a few more examples in the patterns and anti-patterns sections; perhaps future editions of the book can expand on the good stuff that’s here already. Additional examples would have help me make my understanding of the principles a bit more concrete. To be honest, the book is worth it for the comprehensive bibliography alone – if you’re anything like me, you rely on real-world examples to back up more abstract conceptual learning, and this book really delivers.
