Don’t like setting limits
A little tricky to set but works great. Mine beeped once, then did a really long beep, like 15 seconds. After that, gate starts closing and then I could press button again when it got where I wanted it for the closed position

MIGHTY MULE HAS NOT BACKED THEIR GATE SYSTEMS 2 TIMES IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS!
****UPDATE DECEMBER 6, 2024**** IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW AND THE MIGHTY MULE THAT TECHNICAL SUPPORT SAID I INSTALLED WRONG WORKED FLAWLESSLY UNTIL A TREE FELL ON IT FROM HURRICANE HELENE. I REPLACED THE MIGHTY MULE WITH A JU JIANG SYSTEM PKM-C01 AND I MUST SAY THIS IS A WELL BUILT EASY TO INSTALL LOWER PRICED SYSTEM. I AM VERY SATISIFIED WITH THIS COMPANY. I HAVE PURCHASED SEVERAL OTHER MANUFACTURES GATE OPENERS SINCE THE LAST MIGHTY MULE WITH NO PROBLEMS. GOOD LUCK WITH MIGHTY MULE BACKING THEIR PRODUCTS IF YOU DECIDE TO PURCHASE. I PURCHASED 2 MM272 GATE SYSTEMS FROM MIGHTY MULE. THE FIRST SYSTEM WORKED LIKE IT SHOULD EXCEPT FOR THE GATE WOULD START BEEPING LOUD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WAKING MY CUSTOMER AND NEIGHBORS. MY CUSTOMER HAD TO TURN THE SYSTEM OFF BEFORE GOING TO BED EACH NIGHT DUE TO THE FACT MIGHTY MULES TECHNICAL SUPPORT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT THE SYSTEM WAS OVERCHARGING THE BATTERY AND AFTER INSTALLING 2 NEW BATTERIES, AND 1 THAT I TOOK OUT OF MY PERSONAL GATE SYSTEM THAT WAS HAVING NO PROBLEMS, THEY ALL 3 WERE OVERCHARGING. BEFORE INSTALLING THE SURFACE VOLTS WAS 12.4V-12.6 AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS IN THE MM272 MIGHTY MULE GATE SYSTEM THE SURFACE VOLTS WAS 14.7V-15.4V. TECHNICAL SUPPORT HAD ME DRIVE TO THE CUSTOMERS HOME NUMEROUS TIMES TO TROUBLESHOOT. TWICE THEY SAID MY BATTERY WAS BAD. ANOTHER TIME THEY SAID I HAD AN OUTDATED EXIT SENSOR AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE IT. THEY EVEN ASKED ME TO DIG IT UP OUT OF THE GROUND TO SEE IF IT WOULD STOP THE SYSTEM FROM BEEPING AT NIGHT. WHY WOULD I DO THAT? I DISCONNECTED IT FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARD TO SEE IF PERHAPS IT WAS THE EXIT SENSOR CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE GATE CONTINUED BEEPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ONLY WHEN THE GATE WAS NOT BEING USED. IT NEVER BEEPED NOT ONE TIME ANYTIME DURING THE DAY WHEN THE GATE WAS USED. I DID EVERYTHING THAT THEY ASKED ME TO DO (EXCEPT FOR DIGGING UP THE EXIT SENSOR) MANY TRIPS TO TROUBLESHOOT, PURCHASED 2 NEW BATTERIES, SENT PICTURES OF THE INSTALLATION, WHAT A INCONVENIENCE TO MYSELF AND TO MY CUSTOMER FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS UNTIL THEY SAID THEY WOULD WARRANTY IT. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE AROUND 7 DAYS AND I ASKED IF i HAD TO PAY SHIPPING TO RETURN THE DEFECTIVE SYSTEM AND THEY SAID NO DO NOT SHIP IT BACK. AFTER 2 WEEKS I HAD NOT RECEIVED THE REPLACEMENT AND WHEN I CALLED MIGHTY MULE TO SEE WHY THEY TOLD ME IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED TO SEE IF I WAS TO PURCHASE THE SAME SYSTEM HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE. I COULD GET ONE IN 3 DAYS IF I WAS A NEW CUSTOMER BUYING A SYSTEM. JUST ANOTHER BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE FROM THIS COMPANY. I CALLED BUT THIS TIME I DID NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH TECHNICAL SUPPORT I SPOKE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT AND GET BACK WITH ME. I RECEIVED A EMAIL SAYING THAT MY REPLACEMENT WAS SHIPPED AND IT SHOULD BE HERE WITHIN 7 MORE DAYS. 6 DAYS LATER I RECEIVED ONLY A CIRCUIT BOARD. NOW THE WHOLE TIME I THOUGHT THAT SINCE TECHNICAL SUPPORT COULD NOT GIVE ME ANY REASON WHY I WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND AFTER ALL THE INCONVENIENCE THAT THEY WOULD SHIP A WHOLE NEW SYSTEM. I INSTALLED THE NEW CIRCUIT BOARD AND THE SYSTEM DID THE EXACT SAME THING. MY CUSTOMER HAD ALREADY BEEN INCONVENIENCED ENOUGH SO AS MUCH AS I DID NOT WANT TO PURCHASE ANOTHER MM272 SYSTEM I DID ANYWAY BECAUSE I HAD MIGHTY MULE ACCESSORIES AND THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER GATE MANUFACTURES AND THE EXPENSE WAS COMING OUT OF MY POCKET BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN TAKING CARE OF MY CUSTOMER EVEN IF IT COST ME. I RECEIVE THE NEW GATE SYSTEM IN 5 DAYS (FREE SHIPPING FROM AMAZON) INSTALL THE GATE THE NEXT DAY AND USED THE SAME MOUNTING BRACKETS, ACCESSORIES, AND BATTERY AND SET THE CLOSED LIMITS AND OPERATED THE GATE TO MAKE CERTAIN EVERYTHNG WAS WORKING. ALL WAS FINE. TWO MONTHS OF NO PROBLEMS FROM THE SYSTEM AND I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO FOLLOW UP MAKING SURE ALL WAS GOOD. I GET A PHONE CALL FROM THE CUSTOMER TELLING ME THAT ONE SIDE WAS ACTING UP COULD I COME CHECK IT OUT. THE NEXT DAY I ARRIVE AND WHEN I OPERATED THE SYSTEM I COULD HEAR THE MOTOR RUNNING IN ONE OPERATOR ARM BUT NO MOVEMENT OF THE ARM. I IMMEDIATELY DETERMINE THAT THERE IS A INTERNAL ISSUE WITH THAT ARM AND CONTACT TECHNICAL SUPPORT. I EXPLAINED WHAT I FOUND AND THE TROUBLESHOOTING BEGINS. NOW I HAVE TO DO WHAT THEY SAY BECAUSE I WANT TO MAKE SURE I CAN HAVE THIS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT I ALREADY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM INSIDE THAT ARM. WE TROUBLESHOOT EVERYTHING NOT RELATED TO THE PROBLEM AT HAND. EVERYTHING WAS CHECKING OUT GOOD ON ALL THE TROUBLESHOOTING. WE CHECKED BATTERY VOLTAGE (WITH IT INSTALLED), TRANSFORMER VOLTAGE, BATTERY VOLTAGE (NOT INSTALLED), VOLTAGE ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD WITH TRANSFORMER INSTALLED, BATTERY VOLTAGE ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD WITH TRANSFORMER NOT INSTALLED, WIRING TO MAKE CERTAIN EVERYTHING WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AND WIRING TO MAKE SURE ALL WERE TIGHT AT CONNECTIONS. WE REMOVED THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE WIRES FROM THE ARM THAT WAS WORKING AND CONNECTED THOSE DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY TO BYPASS THE BOARD AND IT WORKED. THEN WE TOOK THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE WIRES OFF THE ARM THAT WAS NOT WORKING AND CONNECTED THOSE STRAIGHT TO THE BATTERY AND THE MOTOR WOULD RUN BUT NO MOVEMENT IN THE ARM. I DO NOT WORK FOR MIGHTY MULE BUT WHY GO THROUGH 1 HOUR OF TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS EVIDENT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS? WELL NOW THAT TECHNICAL SUPPORT KNOWS THE PROLEM IS SOMETHING INTERNAL IN THAT ARM THEY REQUEST PICTURES OF THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION. THE SYSTEM IS INSTALLED EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FIRST SYSTEM THAT THEY DID NOT WARRANTY AND THEY ALSO REQUESTED PICTURES THEN AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE INSTALLATION. AFTER RECEIVING THE PICTURES AND STILL ON THE PHONE GOING ON 2 HOURS THEY TELL THAT THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY IT BECAUSE THE INSTALLATION OF THE ARM DOES NOT HAVE 2" OF CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE ARM AND THE GATE AND SEND ME A PICTURE OF A GENERIC ARM AND SHOWING A MINIMUM OF 2" CLEARANCE. I COME BACK TO THE OFFICE AND GET MY INSTRUCTION MANUAL OUT AND IT SHOWS IN MY MANUAL THERE NEEDS TO BE 1" OF CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE ARM AND GATE WHICH I HAVE OVER A INCH ON BOTH ARMS. I REQUESTED A CALL BACK FROM A SUPERVISOR AND GAVE THREE DIFFERENT DAYS AND TIMES THEY COULD CALL ME BACK AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A EMAIL INFORMING WHICH DAY AND TIME I WOULD RECEIVE THE CALL. THAT WAS YESTERDAY MAY 21, 2022 AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A EMAIL FROM THEM. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN. I HAVE PURCHASED AND INSTALLED MANY GTO AND MIGHTY MULE GATE SYSTEMS AS WELL AS ABOUT 6 OTHER MANUFACTURES AND HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH ISSUES OR EVER HAD A COMPANY THAT DID NOT WARRANTY THEIR PRODUCT. I WILL USE THE ARM FROM THE FIRST SYSTEM THEY DID NOT WARRANTY AND INSTALL IT EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE I AM TAKING OFF AND LETS SEE HOW LONG THIS ONE WILL LAST. I WILL UPDATE IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS OR SOONER IF ANY PROBLEMS ARISE. THE SYSTEM DID FINE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN THE ALARM STARTED GOING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. IT WENT OFF ABOUT 10 TIMES NOW SINCE I INSTALLED IT AT MY HOUSE. IT HAS NOW BEEN AROUND 6 MONTHS WITHOUT THE ALARM GOING OFF. NOT SURE WHY IT STOPPED ACTING UP BECAUSE I MADE NO CHANGES AT ALL. DEFINITELY WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM THAT MYSTERIOUSLY FIXED ITSELF?? I HAVE HELD MY WORD AND HAVE NOT PURCHASED ANY MIGHTY MULE SYSTEMS. I HAVE PURCHASED 2 OTHER BRANDS SINCE AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. AT TOPENS WAS VERY QUICK TO RESPOND TO QUESTIONS I ASKED WITH A SOLAR POWERED SYSTEM I INSTALLED FOR A CUSTOMER.

Second one I’ve owned
So this is the second mighty mule I’ve owned. Honestly, these are not high-end products. They do not replace the 10 or $15,000 units that I sometimes install for clients. However, I have a 16 foot wide two leaf gate on an acre property in the mountains. My first one held up for about eight years. Now I’m installing this one. I could’ve repaired the old one parts are still available, but it was gonna take longer to get the parts then to get a new set up. So honestly, if I’m not spending $10-$15,000 it’s pretty hard to complain about the quality you’re getting in this set up. And my gate is not super light. Although I do have some excellent ball bearing hinges that I keep well lubricated.

Good product - support was able to walk me through a problem and fix it.
UPDATE: Our gate worked for a long time and one day started opening slightly after closing. I could not figure out the problem and call support. After talking with support and going through the troubleshooting, we found that the right side opener was going past it's end point and so it was opening slightly after closing. This was caused by the mounting bracket bolts loosening up and the bracket shifting. After moving the bracket back and tightening the bolds, the gate works perfectly. I do have two recommendations, definitely use a car or deep cycle marine battery and a decent sized solar panel. After changing these I haven't had the battery run low after opening the gates dozens of times in a single day.

These are vey good as I have a double gate and works good has Ma remote but it stopped workin after a few days but had order extra smaller remotes and they work great.

Still working after 1 year, But unit arrived without remote controls.
I use this on a metal agricultural style driveway gate which has a wheel on the end opposite the hinge. I have had this installed for about a year and it is still working. I guess that is a plus. I had a previous Mighty Mule of the same size which constantly had water leaking into the housing. It could not handle Florida rain, eventually died. I could have replaced the circuit board but the MM Company does not maintain parts for more than a couple of years. This newer model seems to be a little more water tight. Two things I did not like, MY UNIT ARRIVED WITHOUT ANY REMOTES! Fortunately the old remotes could be programed to run the new gate. Unit seems slower than previous MM I owned and the remote opening distance is variable but mostly less than 50 distance (a negative). IT IS ALSO NOT A SECURE SYSTEM. The antenna box has an off on switch on the bottom. Remotes are easily programed by tuning off the switch then turning on again while holding the button down on a new remote. This means anyone could buy a remote and easily program it for your gate as long as they can reach the control box switch. I may cover the control box with a secure housing but it will have to be custom built. That kind of stinks. This model has a central frame structure made out of some sort of plastic, fortunately that has not been a problem. My previous unit had a very robust aluminum armature which seemed unbreakable. Overall I am relatively happy it works. Not the best unit, not the worst. It works with my previous solar panel and battery set-up, so I did not have to replace that component.

Have used over a year without issues!
We have this on our home entrance. Obviously gets used at least 4 plus times a day. It’s mounted on a heavy duty farm gate and opens it just fine with out any issues. We bought additional remote controls and connect them with ease. I can also set it to stay open for when we are hauling equipment etc and need it open longer. It opens at the same speed of all other automatic gates I’ve experienced. I would recommend this product to a friend.
