Works For Fender Basses (P-bass, Jazz) And Rocksmith 2014 On Steam
This a cool little bit of gear for practicing bass by yourself, especially if you're in that late-beginner sorta stage of bass-playing and not really sure of where to go after finishing a structured beginner course/curriculum (such as BazzBuzz, TalkingBass, Scott's Bass Lessons etc).It can be hard to stay motivated with practicing music, especially if you're not playing with other friends or don't have some guide/path/plan that helps you see your continuous progress (skill-wise).Fortunately for those of us in such situations, the gloriously arcadey Rocksmith offers a welcome reprieve. It reminds me of playing Guitar Hero 2 on PS2, except now I'm actually making tangible progress on a real skill and learning Kim Deal basslines (Debaser by Pixies will always slap). The only downside is the limited selection of songs. I think there's something like 1300 DLC songs available for Rocksmith 2014 on Steam, but I wish they had some more variety (especially more Sleater-Kinney songs aside from just "Dig Me Out"). I haven't checked out Rocksmith+ yet, but I intend to. I think Rocksmith 2014 was actually discontinued and delisted from Steam in late 2023 (if you previously purchased it you can still play and download the DLC), so now everything has moved over to the subscription-based Rocksmith+ (which has something like 7000+ songs). Also, I think there is a way to import music into both Rocksmith 2014 and Rocksmith+, but I haven't messed with it yet. I need to fiddle with it later and try to get some Minutemen, The Clean, Velvet Underground, Shopping and Richard Hell jams loaded up. Some Ska and Rocksteady would be pretty fun too.

Great cable
Is more reliable than the game, if you intend to use for rocksmith 2014, check forms for white screen crash and make sure your drivers are current and only ones listed in forms to be disabled. It's a SOB but it's worth it.

Works perfectly
I love Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, and this cable works flawlessly with it, like you'd expect. Honestly way worth it over the $12 cables after struggling with them for a couple years. Seamless compatibility and improved reliability.

Solid Cable with Dented Packaging
Picked one of these up to give Rocksmith+ a try while I’m between audio interfaces. My first impression when I opened it was that the packaging the cable came in had been tossed around a bit with some creasing and semi-ripped corners where it appeared as though it was opened at one point. Outside of the packaging though, the included cable has been functional and works for my needs. If cross platform flexibility and convenience is something that you’re after I think this is definitely worth it. Being able to use the same cable on pc and consoles is nice if you were going to bring your guitar with you to play with friends or some such. There’s a bit more versatility here than in an audio interface in that regard. If quality and recording is what you’re after, I would recommend spending some time looking into audio interfaces, but that’s just my two cents.TechnicalThe dimensions of the actual plug do seem to run just a bit long, maybe somewhere between a sixteenth to an eighth compared to a general quarter inch audio cable. I also noticed that there’s a bit of an issue with how “snug” the cable feels compared to a typical audio cable plug as well, and it’s easy for it to “slip” out a bit. I’ll update if this becomes an issue, but so far it’s been fine.Wrap upCan it play Rocksmith/Rocksmith+ on multiple platforms? Yes.Can it technically record? Yes.Does it function out of the box? Yes.

Need this for Rocksmith
I've been using it for several months with Rocksmith. It's pretty much required if you want to get the most out the game, particularly if you are using an electric guitar. The other option is to use a microphone and as I understand it, the microphone option is primarily intended for acoustic guitars. At any rate a microphone didn't work well for me so the cable became a necessity. Only with the cable can you take advantage of all the features of Rocksmith. One nice thing about this cable that you might not find in other USB instrument cables is that it has a quick disconnect at the USB computer so if you tug the cable taut instead of damaging your connector, the cable just comes apart at the quick disconnect. It's a good safety feature. The cable is well made although lighter than your typical guitar cable. The 1/4" plug seems to be good quality so even if you don't have Rocksmith it's still a good choice for a USB instrument cable. No regrets about buying the cable although it was somewhat pricey. I use the cable on a Windows computer and the cable works fine with other software besides Rocksmith such as my webcam media program, Guitar Rig 3, and Audacity. It is a bit frustrating that the cable is necessary. My amp has a USB output that I was hoping to use with Rocksmith, but Rocksmith won't accept input from it. I've read that some people split the guitar signal (with a Y cord?) so that they can send the output to both an amp and to Rocksmith at the same time. That seems like a good idea, but not having tried it I can't personally vouch for it.

Works Perfectly on Xbox 360!
I'm still old school and haven't upgraded to Rocksmith+. But I've been using the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable exclusively on my Xbox 360, and it works flawlessly! The connection is smooth, and there's minimal latency, making it feel like I'm playing through a real amp. The sound quality is great, and it's been durable through multiple sessions without any issues.
