Ludwig Drum Set Mounting Hardware (LAPAM3)

I purchased this to work with a set of 80s Slingerland toms. The original mounts were the old slot style and pulled all the resonance out of the shell. I purchased these to try and get a little bit of that back. I installed them using the thinnest spacer, and it still put the lug receiver too far away from the shell. I can make it work, but it sticks out about 1/8 to 1/4 inch too far. This means the lug is not parallel to the shell when it is screwed into the lug.I'm going to keep them because I took over a month to install them so I'm outside of the return window, but if I wasn't I would seriously consider returning them.I think these would work with standard triple flanged hoops, but for my application it was less than stellar.I will say the design over all is pretty good and flexible. it can work with most lug spacings and can place the lug receiver in a couple positions (just not close enough for this drums rims).I'm giving these a three star rating because the impression that was given when they were promoting this item was that it would work with any drum.

Strong and so far durable.. Absolutely one of the best things I ever did to improve the sound of my toms besides changing the heads!.. My tom's now have the sustain and even tone they should. No more buzzing or rattle from the original mounts and an easy install. Only thing is, this mount does not come with the nuts to attach to the shell. 4 stars for that but not a costly fix at the local hardware store. If you can't stand hoop mounts.. this is the solution.

This invention is ingenious. It converted a 1960 15" (head) x 13" (height) tom to a floor tom. I was worried about some things: would its bolts fit the holes? Would I have a hard time getting the current lugs off? Would my tom legs fit? Would it be too complicated for me? Yes, the bolts fit, and they are cleverly designed so that one of them can be adjusted, so I bet they would fit on non-Ludwig drums. The 58 year old lugs came off without drama. The kit comes with tom leg adapters, so I didn't really need to get the Ludwig tom legs. And as for how long this took, it took me more time to find my tools than it did to put these on, and I am NOT good with tools. In fact, through a genetics test, I learned that my DNA is 2.7% Neanderthal, and I am quite certain that my ancient ancestor was better with tools than I am, so if he or she was a drummer, this would have been quite possible.

Great idea but flwed execution. These mounts are easy to install, super solid, and add an enormous amount of flexibility in set-up, but they're way too massive. I'm not able to get my drums into their cases without feeling like they're going to tear through.I returned these and purchased INDe mounts from INDe Drums instead. Same functionality in a much lower profile design.

These were an integral part of a conversion project (rack tom to floor tom -- using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002F74IO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3 for the new legs). Not much in the way of instructions, but I was able to figure everything out using basic common sense. This is a clever design, and eliminates the need to drill new holes in your shell. There are black plastic inserts to accommodate subtle differences in diameter for legs -- it took me a while to figure out what those were. Very cool!

I've used these mounts in the past with no issue. In fact they work great and are usually easy to install. However, this 3 pack arrived without mounting gaskets, washers or mounting nuts. Two memory locks were included with each mount, but, of no use to me as they are of the 12 mm variety. To large for standard Ludwig L-arms or floor tom legs. Ludwig directs problems back to vendor and this being an Amazon purchase I found it impossible to find a solution. I ended up spending an additional $25 at the hardware store for property washers, nuts and gasket material. Had to make my own gaskets! I'm very disappointed in Ludwig (Conn-Selmer) and Amazon. Both companies that I like purchasing from, but, this situation has caused me to re-think future purchases from either.

I have been playing for over 55 years and owned many brands of drum sets and hardware. Best Tom mount I have ever used. Easy to install. If you decide to buy a new kit, have it made without any tom mounts and use these instead. Work well as Floor Tom leg mounts too. They come with inserts so you can use them on different size mounting rods. You will have to use slightly larger cases as these mounts do stick out a bit. Worth the money.

I was wondering if this was going to be a major pain in the butt, but instead, it was easy as can be. I do suggest that you work from the top down (remove the head, not the resonator) as this makes everything easier.
