Altra Olympus 2.5 Women's Trail Running Shoes The reinforced mesh upper of the Altra Olympus 2.5 controls moisture by keeping it to a minimum, while cool air is also encouraged to circulate. Dual layer EVA resides in the midsole for cushioning and responsiveness. Rounding off the shoe is the Vibram MegaGrip Outsole which offers optimal grip and traction for difficult, unpredictable terrain. Breathable Mesh Upper The primary function of the upper is to promote efficient moisture management properties by effectively wicking away the inevitable build-up of sweat and moisture, transporting it from your skin where it is evaporated to leave your feet feeling cool, dry and comfortable as you strive for the best results and performance. In addition, cool air is encouraged to circulate, creating a drier, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. As well as keeping you free from sweat and moisture, the upper is abrasion-resistant, meaning the shoe becoming durable and stable for further protection and comfort. Furthermore, the upper eliminates friction and irritation such as chafing to deliver unrivalled comfort and protection. When facing difficult, unpredictable terrain, the Altra-exclusive GaiterTrap has been updated to a new 4-point system to keep an attached gaiter even more secure than before, thus preventing debris from entering the shoe. A FootShape toe-box enhances protection even further by keeping the toes safe from falling debris, sharp objects or rocks which you may encounter while trail running. Dual Layer EVA Midsole The dual layer EVA midsole offers improved cushioning and comfort compared to standard EVA. This helps deliver a plush, underfoot feel by containing energy-returning compounds directly under the feet to reduce ground impact and attenuate shock by reducing the impact placed upon your joints. Furthermore, this will help minimise the potential risk of injury or discomfort. The A-Bound is situated on the top layer for durability an

I would marry this shoe if I could...
Allow me to sing the love song of my people, about this shoe. Who are my people? If you are not a runner, If you are overweight by 60+ pounds (I am over now by 130 pounds post foot surgery almost 2 years ago), you have foot issues, You have foot issues due to a heel surgery that never healed properly, you have fibro, you feel like a herd of rabbit llamas is tap dancing on your lower back, you practically hyperventilate trying to walk distances longer than 5 minutes, you have stupid WIDE ass feet, you used to walk 10-12K steps PER DAY and do good to get in 2-3K. Then you, are my people and will like this shoe. It is MAX cushion. I can't tolerate standing in one place for very long, but this shoe makes is possible for me to stand in line at the store. it has a wide toe box so my toes can spread out. I tried a size 9, which used to fit, but was too tight so I went up a size, still worried that it would rub my post surgery heel knob.. it doesn't. I am now walking further without low back pain and feel I can slowly start getting my steps back in. My only complaint... please longer shoe strings. I have laced them differently now so as to give me enough string to actually tie them. *picture attached.

Comfortable please buy these.
Keep in mind the toe box is huge/ you might need a half size smaller . It's a lot of money to make a mistake. So here we are 4 days later . This is the most amazing shoe I have ever worn. I'm having surgery in 3 days and feel like I don't even need too. Now that my foot has settled in I can no say enough. I will not ever switch from this shoe and I have spent thousands of dollars in the last 30 years of constant foot pain. Customer service was also top notch. I emailed with concerns and they were quick to answer and very nice. 5 star there too. I already want another pair.

Love These Shoes! Super Comfortable!
I have several foot problems - high arches, bunions, pronation, need for wide toe box. I asked my cousin's wife (editor of a running magazine) for a recommendation and she gave me these. I had a pair of Hoka One's, but they were too narrow in the toe box and despite good cushioning, they were stiff. These shoes were available in a wide (which I purchased) and they are super comfortable - plenty of room in the toe box and wonderful support. Great cushioning and flexibility. Highly recommend!

Runs really small
Runs really small. I usually wear an 8 or 8 1/2 and after reading reviews ordered a 9 and toes touch end of shoe. It does seem like could be a comfortable shoe, so I have a 9 1/2 on the way to try. I have plantar fasciitis and have hard time buying shoes, especially athletic shoes

The Perfect Sneaker
I tried several different styles of Altra shoes and these are my favorite. The previous model was too tight in the toe box. This new version has different fabric in the toe box that allows a lot more room for my feet and bunions. I bought these for our vacation to Germany. I have sesamoiditis so I need a zero drop, stiff sneaker and wide toe box and these are perfect. They do run small, you need to size up at least 1/2 a size. I wear 10 to 10.5 depending on the sneaker, I got these in an 11.

Great shoe, but like the 2.0 better.
Altra Olympus is a great shoe, especially for those with feet issues. I have 2 pairs of the 2.0 which have been one of the best walking shoes I have ever had. The 2.5 has similar features which I love, zero rise, great cushion, and room for the toes. The only negatives for me on the 2.5 was the heel guard was a little higher and was uncomfortable when walking. I was able to solve that by putting in an insert, which raised my foot enough. They also have a lighter weight mesh, which I actually don't prefer.

Expensive Buth Worth It
I broke my ankle Thanksgiving 2016 which required a plate and 7 screws to fix, and needed a good pair of sneakers for physical therapy. A friend told me about Altra so I bought a pair to try out. THEY ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD! By far the most comfortable and supportive sneaker I have ever bought. Because they are the only shoes I wear, I expected them to wear out fast but nope - I've had this pair for 4 months and they're still great.

Painful shoes
I have plantar fasciitis and I looked long for a pair of shoes to reduce my pain. I usually wear 7.5 but I went with 8 on these shoes. My toe is in constant contact with the tip of the shoe while my other toes have to much space to move. I would say my toes have a normal size, and my toe is not long to compare to my other toes. I wore them to work twice and I came back with excruciating pain both days. The pain was tripled compare the days I didn't wear them. These are not cheap sports shoes and I cannot even return them because return policy indicates no returns of worn items.

durability
I used the shoe for walking---have never been a runner. This is the ALTRA Olympus 2.5 trail running shoe size 8.5 gray/blue. The shoes were delivered on June 20, 2018 and I have already worn a hole thru the fabric of the left shoe and I am now wearing a hole thru the fabric of the right shoe. This is the 3 rd pair of Altra shoes that I have purchased. These were the first pair of Altra Olympus and they were purchased for their wide toe box. I suffer from Plantar Fasciatis and appreciated the wide box. They have held up for less than 4 months of plain walking. The soles of the shoes are fine as are the rest of the shoe where the rubber meets the fabric. My other 2 pair of Altras wore well but the toe box is smaller than the Olympus. The shoes are an expensive purchase for the little wear that I got out of them.

These shoes don't wear well!
I love these shoes and they fit my feet perfectly, as I have bunions on both feet and the wide width of these are great. The insoles are the most comfortable ones I've ever had. However, they are wearing out terribly in one spot. I still have sneakers that are 5 years old and they don't have the issues these have. I've had them since July and they are already ripping on the inside of the ankle. One shoe is worse than the other. I will be contacting the seller as well, as I love the comfort but the quality is very disappointing. I wear these to workout inside my house and for walks in my neighborhood (no running or jogging) a few times/week.

Happy Hiker
I hike long distances and use custom orthotics. No other shoes have worked for my feet this year and I tested nine other pairs. These Altras almost perfectly give me the cushioning I need in my forefoot, have a sufficiently wide toe box to handle swollen feet after 10 or 15 miles on a hot day, and grip a rocky trail. I replaced the insoles with my orthotics and it's good to go.
