"Pop Your Patterns" is an easy to read and easy to understand self-help book about identifying patterns of thought and behavior that are negatively affecting one's life, and diminishing or eliminating those patterns. Every human being has at least some of the patterns described in this book, so it is applicable to virtually everyone from someone whose life is in serious disarray to the person who would just like to improve certain areas of their life. In the book, one learns about a number of distinct negative patterns and the overarching categories they fall into, such as Domination or Flight. At its conclusion, it provides a variety of specific exercises designed to reduce the influence of the pattern in one's life. The no-frills and to-the-point style of the book makes it both easily accessible and immediately helpful to anyone who reads it."Pop Your Patterns" is structured so that the reader is first introduced to the idea of patterns as helpful hints to point out problem areas to be worked on, as well as infusing a sense of hope in the reader that any pattern can be changed with hard work and commitment. The writing is clear and concise, as well as humorous with numerous relevant anecdotes and analogies added throughout the text. These stories perhaps replace the more technical lingo often found in psychological-driven self-help books. They also serve to make a more human connection with the author, as many of the tales are derived from his own life.Seth Kadish is an articulate and informative writer, capable of both getting his point across and making it interesting and relevant to the reader. He manages to imbue real warmth in his words while demanding, honestly but gently, true commitment from his would-be pupils. He also comes across as another human being making the same life journey as the reader, further fostering the relationship essential to this creative and clever read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone at any stage in their life who is interested in making a positive change to their life.

great insights to help one effect real change!
Thank you Dr. Seth for writing such a hands-on, entertaining, down-to-earth, teaching tool on understanding how "negative patterns" are pre-cursors to how a young person ends up using drugs, alcohol,or is filled with rage, as well as how these same patterns limit who we are at any age. How do we change these patterns even if we admit they are ours? The book will appeal to the young adult audience as well as others; illustrating points by connecting contemporary, famous movies and character roles vs. trying to hit one over the head with important information. It is eye-opening to see reflections of family members, inlcuding myself in the anecdotal stories, and recognizing examples of the negative patterns that over time become embedded in our daily lives. Your words resonated with me "I am committed to struggle"....my new mantra! I struggle with myself, I struggle with both my sons, I struggle with my husband...I can see "patterns" in all of us that need "popping". Having the unique experience of you working with our son, has let me see how deeply you care about what you do, and the people you interract with. Now, you have written this little gem of a book to share with a much wider audience. I plan to go back in the book again, and get busy with the exercises, and start working on "popping" some of my own negative patterns. Wish me luck... Thanks Dr. Seth!

This book can make the world a better place!
I too thoroughly enjoyed this book. Dr. Kadish has a light-hearted, down to earth, no nonsense, and non offensive, yet direct way of speaking to the heart of our common, humanly foibles or "patterns". Dr. Kadish not only clearly and entertainingly describes these patterns, but he also offers us the way out or through our patterns! If you have ever wanted to gauge yourself, your tendencies against an expert and professional opinion, you can by reading this book. Dr. Kadish's generous offering of this book can go a long way to helping us understand, and work through the patterns that interfere with what would be a greater sense of pride and contentment in our lives. You will want your friends, family, and significant others to read and learn from it too. Invaluable wisdom that will change your life for the better. Enjoy!

Practical, info-packed and fast paced
I read Seth Kadish's book in about two afternoons - it was a fast, informative read that I immediately started thinking about and applying in my own situations (disclosure: I am a psychologist and colleague of Dr. Kadish). I found the book provides immediately usable conceptualizations of some of the blocks or patterns that we have and provides solid ways to break through them. On top of all this, Seth incorporates humor and directness in his writing, something lacking in most psychology/self-help books. That style gives it a lightness and readability that is rare for such books. I greatly enjoyed it and recommend it highly!

Doctor from Oprah's Network!
Dr. Kadish is the therapist from the Ryan and Tatum O'Neal show on Oprah's new Network. If Ryan O'Neal says, "I really like Dr. Kadish. I think he's good. I think it's working." He must be terrific! I love Pop Your Patterns. It is chock full of insights and helpful how-to. Plus, he writes with humor. I've already read it twice. Thanks Dr. Seth. I'm already popping my patterns.

brilliantly written
Dr Kadish does an exceptional job helping the reader discover, identify, examine, and change lifelong patterns. He uses humor and personal experience to bring the concepts to life and he does this in his own "Brooklyn manner"
