Although it plays music for an 18 month old, the microphone is hard/impossible for him to use.
The first two times 18-month-old played with it, the microphone ended up making a loud screeching sound that scared him and made him cry. He didn't touch them for days after that. I was about ready to pack it up and send it back when I saw him grab the microphone and bring it to someone else when they were singing. He has been playing with it and likes the music buttons and the playback button now. He has not encountered the scary screeching sound again. He has not been able to record anything himself yet. Though he can push the record button long enough to erase the previous recording, he isn't quite getting the idea of holding the record button down to record for a longer time.I was getting this in hopes of encouraging him to vocalize more, but it hasn't really made any difference with that. I think once he realizes that he can record his own vocalizations by holding down the record button long enough it might help for that purpose and I will update my review then, but for now he just enjoys it in the same way that he enjoys any other toy that he can press buttons on and make music.

Love the colors and music!
I use to have a little boom-box when I was younger and it had an attached mic. I wanted to find something like that, but I could only find very advanced kinds. I have a 1 and 2 year old so I didn't want to buy something so advanced so I settled on this. My boys love it. The 1 year old loves to dance to the different music and the 2 year old loves to yell and boom him voice in the MIC. I love that you can record and then listen to it. Unfortunately, my boys continually hit the record button and accidently keep recording over the recorded voice. I feel like there should have been a way to kind of prevent that. The boys don't even mean to, they just try to hold it and it erases it and they can't understand why it won't work. That is the only complaint. The record button is very big and easy to hit.

Little one loves her microphone
I ordered this for my mom to gift to a little girl at her birthday party, it got here the day of the party (thankfully.) Both if the little girl's parents are very active in the church service & this little girl LOVES microphones she opened this about half way through her gifts & was through with the rest of her stuff...lol...she was one happy little girl. If you order this for a gift make sure you put batteries in it before wrapping it, this is a personal pet peav of mine...toys being sold without batteries...& I can't use my personality issues in a rating, I just think ALL toys should be sold with the batteries, it is so unfair for a child to get as excited as this little girl did & not be able to play with a new toy, of course if I was so pick about batteries it might have saved the rest of the party:)

Kid likes it
I, as an adult consumer think that this is a piece of junk. But my 3 year old nephew thanks it's the bee's knees. It was very hard for me to figure out how to make it function because there is no instructions. I messed around with the recording feature for about 15 minutes. The way to get it to record is to press down the recorder and singer song and then release when done. Once you hear the applause you know it has recorded. You use the play button on the side to hear the song. You can only record one song at a time and you can not will you leave here the karaoke version if you are playing this song provided by the microphone. But as stated this is a fun toy for 3 year old. I don't expect it to last long. But it is kind of annoying to adult years so that is OK.

So fun!
My 2 year old loves singing so I got this for him for Christmas. He has used it quite often and loves pushing the different buttons. I love that you can record your voice and then play it back. It also plays so fun music and does a voice changer sound too. My one complaint is that we dropped it once on our hard wood floor and now there is something loose rattling inside. Still works fine but you can definitely hear something rattling around.

Great for 9 month to 1 year
I have a 1-year-old and 3 years. This product was better for my 1-year-old and I had to get another product a tiny bit more advance for my 3-year-old. My opinion is that it depends on the child's interest to music and wanting to play with a microphone. My kids like it but having a phone on their hands all the time no. but when they say play with it prepare your ears. This product is not loud but it has a decent volume.

Stands the Test of Time
My kids received two of these about 3 years ago and loved them. Kids are now 4 & 6 and these are still played with on a very regular basis. The battery seems to last a long time and there are two levels for volume. I occasionally find it annoying as an adult, but they love them so much that I just send them to another room so they can keep enjoying. Their favorite feature is recording themselves and playing it back.

But all in all really fun. My baby will change the songs and I ...
My baby loves this at 15 months. The other thing I wish is that you could use it with just your voice and not always pressing a button. And wish the voice didn't always get distorted. But all in all really fun. My baby will change the songs and I notice her trying to sing into it so it is doing what I want....

Kids love it/Mom & Dad Hate It
Our kids have used this for a couple years (from ages 3 to 6). It's always a hit when their friends come over. The sound quality is horrible. It grates on our ears as adults. But the measure of a toy 'should be' how much fun the kids have with it. So, on that measure its a 5 star toy. They love it and have spent hours and hours scraping our ears playing with it. Sorry, but I gave it only 4 stars because the tiny sound really is horrible. If they made the sound quality just a bit better the kids would love it just as much and we wouldn't hate it as much. Hence the 4 of 5 stars.

Hours of fun!
As most parents would know it's quite difficult to keep kids entertained on the same toy for more than a few hours but my daughter has been playing with this microphone for a few weeks now. The sound quality on the set songs is good but the recording part is kind of echo-y.

making your voice sound like you inhaled helium)
My little enjoys this microphone for its music and its ability to add sound effects to the user's voice. Wish it came wirh more different voice effects (there's only one, making your voice sound like you inhaled helium). The recording function hasn't been a big hit, which could be because it's still too confusing a concept for a 3yo, or because the sound quality is so shoddy my 3yo doesn't recognize it as a copy of the user's voice. As I say, sound quality is very low and the songs are kinda nauseating for an adult listener. Worth the money and some irritation to see my little's delight.

it's meh. stopped working after first 30 mins.
bought this mic for my 3yo daughter and had high hopes as it had enough high ratings for me to think it would be a good xmas gift. she had been asking for a mic and loves singing so sure why not. she loved it... for the first 30 mins of taking it out of the box and singing to her hearts content. put it down for a couple of mins and it completely stopped working. even changed the batteries. nope. too bad because she loved it. contemplating on buying another one (maybe we just got a dud) but not sure if it's worth the hassle. plus it's now $8 more than what I originally paid.

Poor sound
I realize this is a cheaply made toy and yet I was disappointed with the sound quality since the real focus of the toy is it is supposed to be a microphone! It is difficult to manipulate and the echo chamber and super quiet sound it generates makes it is not an advisable item to purchase.
