Mule Owners Take Note
Highly recommend this book to all mule owners or wanna be owners. All the other books I read and there were many made me feel like I had made a major mistake purchasing my two mules but Cynthia has given me a lot of insite into my guys and why they do the things they do and she has reassured me that I'm doing alright with my training. She has given some very practical advice without the added sales pitch for buying products like the other books I read.5 stars mosr definitely

Best mule book!
Very informative, best read for mule lovers!! This book will teach you how your mule thinks and will help you understand your mule better so that you can have the best relationship with your long-eared friend. I got this book shortly after I purchased my best mule friend. After reading this book I can predict her actions, understand her reasoning and we have the best relationship!!! I do have a wonderful mule, however our bond and my new understanding of the mule keeps our bond growing stronger and stronger. I trust her, and she trusts me...I can do anything with her now.

Best "Mule Book" I've read yet
I am 70 yrs old, bought me a "problem" mule as a keep-busy project! Been a horseman all my life so just knew I could handle this deal~ huh, not quite so. When things don't work try readin' the instructions. Bought & read lots more stuff, and already had a bunch on hand. This book is the best of the lot, IMHO. Why? Because it explains things from the mule's point of view and tells in considerable detail why they see things the way they do.Not written in textbook style, it is an enjoyable book to read, which I liked. She's still a diamond in the rough~ but I've made progress with Maggie Mule, largely due to understanding gained from things discussed here. More importantly, she's become fun instead of aggravating!

Understanding the mule
I am a long time horse owner and I found this book extremely helpful. Although I consider myself quite knowlegable about horse care, I found this book incredibly informative and interesting..I learned that mules are quite differnt from horses and that the training techniques are different as well. This is an excellent book for the beginner with mules as well as for someone who already is involved. It is well written and straightforward and very helpful. I highly recommend it.

Great for donkey owners
This is highly recommended reading for donkey owners as much of the mule psychology arises from the donkey parentage, and Cynthia has excellent explanations for 'the why' and 'what to try' based on her observations and thinking. She has some good lateral approaches that don't follow the same old ruts of conventional training - for example let your mule have a good hot go at dislodging the saddle first time so it doesn't happen when a person is incidentally on board. Many people clearly find it hard to put themselves in their beloved longear's hooves and see the world view from their perspective, but Cynthia's book makes it a lot easier with her logical, direct suggestions. If you have donkeys - just skip the 'horse influence' bits but most of this book is still very relevant. But keep in mind that ownership of a mule is an alluring concept!

Very enlightening resource for this first-time mule owner!
As a first-time mule owner, this was a very helpful resource! Attar's approach to how to interact with the amazing donkey/horse hybrid really enlightened me. I was sorry the book had to end.

Was expecting more
This was a fairly basic book with not a lot in it. I had expected more. Really only good if you haven't read anything about the personality and intelligence of mules. Not much in training tips, except for foals; didn't help with my meat save rescue. Some nice basic information for those that know nothing at all.
