Horrible odor! - But Mohawk came to the rescue!!
I have just revised my original 1-star review (below) all the way up to a 5-star review!Although Amazon’s 30-day return window had closed, I decided to call Mohawk directly to report the awful smell. The very helpful claims rep I spoke with apologized and said the smell was a known issue which has since been fixed. She asked me to send her a copy of my Amazon order info, and she is sending me a free replacement shipment of three new pads with no smell.I take back what I said about Mohawk. They admitted the problem existed, fixed it, and are sending me a free replacement order. I have a new found respect for Mohawk and their very professional and helpful employees. And these pads are awesome.(Old review below:)I bought these three additional rug pads after first trying one under an area rug on my wood floor, and being satisfied with it’s ability to keep the rug pretty much in place in a high traffic area—even with two dogs running over it regularly. But when these pads arrived, they had a peculiar odor that I had not noticed with the first one. Assuming the odor would gradually subside after the pads were laid out and in use for a while, I put them down under the remaining area rugs. It has been 2 months now, and the pads still smell, and the odor is sickening. The Amazon window for returning them has closed, and I am out the money I have wasted on them. I had trusted that with a brand name like Mohawk, I was purchasing a quality product. But a one-month guarantee on something like this is not long enough to realize that you’ve been sold a defective product. This is the last Mohawk product of any kind for me.

Perfect size for adding softness and more expensive feel to rug without being overly bulky.
I initially had tried the thicker type rug pads that are around the 1/4-1/2" thickness range, with personally having opted for the 3/8". I found that type of rug pad added WAY too much unnecessary bulk to the rug and made the rug feel very awkward and too high. However, this thickness right here is absolutely ideal for adding comfort and a thicker feel to your rug without adding unnecessary bulk and making your rug feel like it's naturally thicker and higher quality without the feeling that something is under it. Additionally, you will end up protecting your floor, increasing the longevity of the rug, and prevent slippage. I personally could never really buy another rug without having one of these under. It just transforms rugs and takes them to the next level, not only in comfort but in overall added feeling of luxuriousness too. Also, don't let the thin size fool you into thinking it isn't durable, this thing is strong. Great product overall, highly recommend.

Thin but it does hold our runners in place
If you get this pad you will need to open the package and unfold the pad and let it lay flat for 24 to 48 hours or roll the pad tight on a 4 inch pole to get the folds from shipping out of it for 24 hours. It is a nice pad after you get the folds out of it. It is more work but it is worth it for a flat pad.

So far so good
I recently moved into an apartment with hardwood and when I got my rug I didn’t even think about the fact that it would be sliding all over the place with my dog running around. I did not want to get the checkered rug pads as I’ve seen a lot of reviews of people who say it completely ruined the floor by getting stuck to it, leaving a checkered print, etc. which I don’t want to risk as I am renting. This rug pad has been great, I have had it almost 3 weeks now and rug has not budged at all, dog can run around and I can lean my feet on my ottoman without it sliding now. Decent price and good quality.

This Mohawk pad works well
The larger size was cheaper than the smaller one for some reason so I got the larger one. Then with scissors, I cut it 2 inches shorter than the top rug on each side and that was perfect. The top rug lays down smoothly with no gaps that could catch a foot. The rubberized backing keeps it in place and my rug does not move on the pad. Great buy.

It does a very strong chemical smell...
It came packaged in plastic, so I rolled it up to smooth out creases. I kept it in my office at my house but the smell was so strong I moved it to another less used room. I thought the smell would get better after a few days, but it didn't. Then I thought maybe laying it out will help the smell release and maybe it will over time, but it's been over a week since and for me the smell is strong. It may not bother some, but I notice the smell even after we placed a rug over it. The 8x10 size does work at keeping my rug in place and the 1/8" does not offer much cushion, but I was not looking for that with the type of jute rug that I have. Going to give it more time to see if the smell is less noxious, otherwise I will look for a "Green Label" rug pad that is supposed to be low or no VOCs.UPDATE: I threw out the rug pad since the smell did not get better and replaced it with a rug that has natural rubber as the backing.

It smells!
I have bought these Mohawk rug pads before and they are great. They stay in place well and add padding. For some reason this one just stinks and I can get the smell out! I've had it in the garage and outdoors when its nice out but so far it still had a odd smell. Otherwise it's a nice rug pad.

I Think These Rug Pads Are Great
I just purchased my fourth Mohawk rug pad from Amazon -- three were thicker 5x8 pads for area rugs and one was a thinner 2x8 pad to use under a rug just inside my back door. I've found them to be easy to use. They trim easily to size with a pair of sharp scissors. Two of the thicker ones are in the coldest room in our house where the floor is on a slab rather than with a basement underneath so the floor tends to be chilly on sock feet in the winter. The combination of the area rugs and thick pads make a big difference. These two pads and the one in the kitchen are on laminate flooring and I wanted to be sure the pad I chose wouldn't hurt the flooring. So far, these have been great. No problems and the rugs all stay put. Very pleased.

Works very well
This is the fourth MOHAWK carpet pad we have ordered in our home. They all have a non-slip rubber backer, and a composite pad, which performs well. These are a little on the pricey side, compared to the competing brands, however you get what you pay for. Excellent product!!

Low profile works well
Mohawk DR010 999 048072 EC Low Profile Pad Area Rug 4'x6' GrayThese are working well under fairly stiff rugs. The low profile keeps trip hazards to a minimum. Don't count on scissors to trim - you'll need a carpet knife or heavy exacto/utility blade, keeping a piece of wood underneath to protect the floor. Happy with the purchase.

We purchased the anti-slip rug mat to replace a less expensive itemAnd read the reviews both on Amazon and elsewhereIt was recommended as one of the better productsWe like the mat and it sits comfortably under the rugThe cheaper product it replaced (Dunelm brand) also arrived folded and felt a little sticky to the touchThough is was advertised as washable - we did not keep the mats long enough to investigateBeing slightly sticky to the touch they did not lay perfectly flat and the creases and wrinkles from packaging adhered together which affected the lay of the rug - only slightlyFurther the anti-slip mat(s) were recommended for use on carpetYet we found that the rug/s walked a few centimeters each weekAs mentioned this item lays much flatter it is also slightly more paddedWhich benefits the rugIt is again recommended for use on carpetHowever we still find that the rug/s walk a few centimeters each weekIt may be inevitableAnd we just have to get accustomed to realigning the rug/s when we vacuum- as a note the rugs lay perfectly when being vacuumed and do not lift or slideWe are considering completing our purchase and replacing the anti-slip mats in another roomBut are still assessing the benefitsOverall it is a good product and had it been our first purchase we would not be examining the intricacies of underlayIt may even work better on long pile carpet and we must consider this possibilityWe do not have wood floors so cannot comment on its use
