My best pen so far
I highly recommend this pen. I bought this to replace my Ohto smart multi 4 in 1 since it broke. They have similar mechanism but Kentaur uses an extra green ink. This pen has all four business colors I need for drafting notes and sketches. It is the only pen I need. It is thicker than the ohto and the Cross multi 3 which is a good thing. The Ohto was very skinny and took awhile to get used to. I do not think it is for long writing only quick notes. The Cross is the standard Cross size and feels a little better in hand than the Ohto but has only two inks instead of Ohto's three. Both these pens are skinny and do not feel as good as the Kentaur. It is thick but not bulky. The weight and balance is good. It does not take any time to get used to writing. It feels comfortable to use for extended writing. They could make the eraser holder metal and use real carbon fiber. That would make an already high quality pen better. Honestly I waited over a year to buy this because I didn't think it would be as good as my other more expensive pens and did not think I could justify the cost. In reality the pen outperforms all my other pens. I could have saved money buy just buying this pen first. It doesn't feel like a cheap knockoff or low quality chinese import. I am going to use it heacily for daily writing to use up the ink and replace with pentel d1 refills because I like there color quality the best of all pen refills. This pen has good black and blue tones but I do not like the red or green. Green is usually bad for most pens but pentel and ohto's red is better. The Japanese inks are very vivid.I was worried that I would be wasting money buying a pen that was cheaper looking or feeling to the Ohto that I broke but I was wrong. It outperforms all other multi pens with a knock style system even the Rotring 4 in 1. So far the best pens I have found are the Pentel Vicuna and this one. The Vicuna uses a twist system similar to the Cross which is more reliable than a knock system and doesn't rattle. The Vicuna has a 0.5mm lead while this has a 0.7mm. Incra scales require the use of 0.5mm so I will use my Vicuna for that. I own a small Leatherology pen case and I keep the Vicuna and this one in it at my desk and use them both together. With the four main inks used for color coding or business and the two main lead sizes I probably won't use my other pens much except my Papermate Ink joy profiles for when I need to color. Here is a list of other pens I own for comparison:Kentaur multi 5 in 1 (this pen high quality ohto replacement)Ohto multi slim 4 in 1 (discontinued)Ohto multi 3 in 1 (disappointingly light due to aluminum build)Ohto Ceramic Dude ()Rotring multi 4 in 1 (just okay)Rotring tikky 3 in 1 (not worth it)Fisher Q4 3 in 1 with stylus (everything broke on mine and finish easily damaged, maybe staedlter has higher build quality)Cross multi tech+ 3 in 1 (twist selector is very reliable, ink is a bit typical of high viscous ballpoints)Pentel Vicuna (uses a twist barrel mechanism to switch components just like the cross)Smttw multi 4 in 1 (ohto knock off)Rotring rapid pro ball point ( a good single point pen with nice heft)Rotring rapid 2.0mm lead holder (matches the pen but writes with a pencil lead similar to #2 hb lead pencil)Graph gear 1000 (mechanical pencil set for drafting, an economical alternative to rotring)

Colorful Review
The pen writes smooth in all colors. I did purchase refills, and have had no problem with them. My only issue with the pen, is not the pen, but the pencil. The cartridge itself is small, so not much lead can fit into it, and is a slight pain to change. However, the pencil spring broke on my pen. I opted to just remove it, and I no longer have the issue. I like the pen enough still, to have bought a second of the exact same model. The pencil spring on the second model feels week, but I simply do not use to the pencil on it, so it hasn't worn out or broken yet. I wish this pen existed, without the pencil and 1 additional color pen.

A fine VERY multifunctional pen/pencil
This is a very good pen/pencil, and is unique in its full functionality, moderately priced and very useful to me. I don't know of a similar type pen that gives your FOUR ink choices along with a mechanical pencil. The combination is very helpful to me in both work and leisure/learning situations, and I'd hate to be without one. With all of the pen bodies and mechanical pencil works inside, it IS a little larger in diameter than many other pens, but not so much that it attracts attention for that reason. And many single color pens are sold that are this diameter or larger. I have been using this pen for a little over three months.I've been using these types of multi-function pen/pencils for about 25 years. My first one featured two colored pens and a pencil, in a body that was barely larger in diameter than a standard pen, and I paid a price for it over twice the cost of this pen, not adjusted for inflation. They were very rare, and I was thrilled to find such a combination. As an engineer/manager, I wanted to have something that would avoid looking like a "nerd pen" in meetings, yet have the ability to mark up drawings and computer printouts in a way that would catch the attention of the people for whom I was marking them up.Soon after there were pen/pencils sets with three colors of ink and a pencil, and I have been using them happily for over two decades. And then recently came this model-- FOUR colors and a pencil! OF COURSE I was going to buy one!!Note that all of these type pens have a somewhat complex, crowded and undersized interior mechanism, so handling them with care is advised. I liked them so well that, even at twice this price, I gifted them to fellow engineers and managers, but no one seemed to like them as much as I did.Given the pretty hard "in the field" use I gave the pens, in 2 years or so they would get so beat up that I would by a new one just to maintain that "boardroom appropriate" look. Trying to take care of them, I've never had but one actually fail internally, and of course, it was in a meeting where its failure was very inconvenient. But I always carry a "Bic type" pen in my pants pocket, so I was able to continue without much disruption.I typically have blue, red, green and orange in the pen slots, with the pencil serving as "black" if I need to color code something. The blue pen is usually a "Space Pen", pressurized refill that writes well in the rain and at odd angles and is great for field work. The orange used to be a Staedtler brand refill that was promoted as a "highlighter" refill. That works great for highlighting material in reports, etc. Staedtler seems to have discontinued those refills, but I have found another source for orange pen refills, and they seem to work about as well. For almost a quarter of a century, pretty much whereever I roamed, one of these type pens was with me. (Yes, I know I'm a nerd! :-) This particular model is adding more functionality and continuing that tradition in fine fashion.
