So far they seem to be working. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have LOTS of slugs. I had put them around some of my hostas and the slugs have not attacked them like they did the others that did not have the band around them. I will definitely order another set to put around the remaining ones as the crushed egg shells do not work.

These really work saving many of my Hosta plants from slugs! Just place the copper rings around the bottom of the plant, press gently into the soil & slugs won't cross this barrier.

so far so good
I have these around the trunks of my dwarf citrus trees and so far no snails, but I gave them four stars rather than five because I'm not really sure how well they work because so far this winter I've seen very snails and only a few slugs, but this product was recommended to me and I've got a feeling they will be effective come spring time.

Slugs didn't seem concerned
They didn't work. Clearly there was some chemical reaction as you could see the black trails the slugs had made going up and over. Also unless your plants are very upright they flop over the band so making them pointless. On the plus side it took less than 5 minutes to bend them into shape and put them on.

Used this tape indoors and outdoors. Results indoors are amazing, does keep the slugs at bay. Outdoors, no so convinced...

beat the slugs
My neighbours runners beans have been eaten, but mine are fine behind their wall of copper. Careful as you bend these round as they are metal and quite sharp. I cut myself in a minor way. I have two dogs, so slug pellets just are not an option
