FTCE General Knowledge Test Secrets Study Guide: FTCE Exam Review for the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations

I used other study materials before taking the first test and they didn't help prepare me at all for the actual test. After taking the test I went online and did some real research and purchased this book. After a few days of studying and using the practice test I have increased my scores immensely. The descriptions and examples on how to receive the answer are very descriptive and helpful. Also, the challenge level is the same as the level on the actual test. I am already feeling more confident in my skills while studying this book.

THE BOOK IS AMAZING IT HAS ALL THE GUIDES AND EVEN A PRACTICE EXAM TO HELP ME STUDY MORE. THE BOOK GIVES YOU EXAMPLES AND HINTS ON SOLVING THE QUESTION OR FINDING THE ANSWER. WITH THIS BOOK I FEEL REAL PREPARE TO TAKE MY FTCE EXAM.

I took my FTCE GK exam today, all 4 subtests, and while I haven't gotten my essay results back, my unofficial results say I passed the other 3 subtests. This was the only book I purchased for GK prep. Seeing as I passed, I definitely give thumbs up to Mometrix. I needed the greatest refresher in the math section, and the book gave a great sample of the types of problems that are on the actual test. There were, however, a few areas that I didn't feel were explained enough in the study guide, so I ended up having to look up more examples online and/or find better explanations. Overall though, it was really good prep. The practice exam was very helpful, and I really liked the explanations in the answer key for each problem. I did get additional practice in the pertinent study areas using a free online "academy," but I knew what to practice because of this book. When comparing this book to the actual test, I would say the examples and practice questions in this book were more challenging than the actual exam, but that helped me be prepared. The book is definitely worth getting.

I am extremely happy with the study guide. I would rate the book a 5. All of the important information is laid out in a manner that is easy to follow. I have taken the first test in the book and it has really helped my understand what I got wrong. Not just the answer, but the explanation of why it is that answer.

Extremely impressed of how fast the books came in the mail! Books look great and seem very resourceful. Currently in the process of reading my first book and loving it thus far. I am taking my FTCE Exams at the end of the month and I am confident that these study guides will help me gain positive results!

This book was on point for the english and writing sections, but it was way off for the math section. The problems in the book did not reflect which was on the test.

The FTCE General Knowledge Test Secret study guide so far, I will rated as 5 on your scale. It has been a very helpful guide on my GK studies. I haven’t finish the guide but I think that the DVD will help me to accelerate my GK studies in order to take the test in expedite way.

This product gets one star because technically everything is there, but that is the most that I can say about it. I have given up trying to get any meaning from the review chapters in this book and will only be using the practice test, in addition to those in the other study guide I bought, and the one from the free study guide provided on the Florida Department of Education website. This book is overpriced, costing 40 dollars, when it’s competitor, Cliffnotes provides a study guide for the same test, with two practice tests, for 16 dollars. What the heck, Mometrix? This might be acceptable if this book was twice as good as its competitor. It’s not. The study guide writer has one job: to explain the content of the test in an effective and clear manner. When an individual is trying to remember the difference between the dozen different kinds of verbs, it doesn’t help if the text of your study guide is crap. If I owned a physical copy of this book I would have thrown it across the room. Alas, I have a Kindle copy on my IPad, so had to make do with yelling profanities. The text in this study guide actually makes the content more confusing, not less. You will somehow finish reading a definition of a term and forget it two seconds later. Keep it simple stupid. The other study guide I bought, the Cliffnotes one, manages to explain the content better and....do everything better. So, save some money and buy that one.
