Very good quality stone
It is a high-quality sharpening stone with a great feel when sharpening. Ideally, it would not come attached to the base, as the base is not very useful. In my case, I removed it with the help of two flathead screwdrivers, and I currently use the stone with a sharpening stand, which I find more comfortable and practical.

Newb friendly
Basically as a newb to sharpening these stones will make you feel like you don't suck ass. If you're consistent with your grinding angle you can create a good solid edge. Good stones like this make the job easier.

Best I've ever used...
My photos don't match the review because the first one arrived broken, but Amazon replaced it with no issue. The second Chosera 3000 arrived perfect.I own; full Dan's Arkansas stone set, Sharp Pebble set, both Lansky's Diamond & there Arkansas set, along with various diamond stones. The Chosera 3000 has my favorite 3000 grit stone out of them all. I'll list the pro's over the others.- Sharpens about 5x faster than my Arkansas black (3000ish)- Load-up is slow to nothing. With both my Sharp Pebble and Arkansas stones, they require cleaning that takes about 5 minutes and need cleaning within 30 passes. The Chosera 3000 only requires spraying with water with a spray bottle. I'll spray some water on the area I want clean, then rub lightly with my finger. This is the most load resistant stone I've ever used.- Wears extremely slow. With over 200 passes among all knives I've sharpened this week is has yet to show any wear.- Has a satisfying feel when sharpening. Arkansas stones feel too hard, Sharp Pebble feels too soft, DMT diamond stones feel too scratchy. This Chosera stone feels the most comfortable/enjoyable to sharpen with out of any stone I've used.As a stand alone, this would work very well as a daily kitchen knife stone. No need to soak, very easy to clean, would last near lifetime. I love this stone.

Easy to Use, and works well
I am somewhat new to the Japanese stones' for sharpening. However, I currently have a variety of sharpening stones. Diamond stones work well with lower grit: they are very aggressive and quick to sharpen. However, they will leave small marks on the blade. The Chosera 3000 will not. It will remove metal quickly and leave a nice, smooth edge.Shapton GlassStone go from low to high grit, but I have only used the 16,000. (I buy them from SharpeningSupplies.com since they stand behind their products well. Ceramic stones polish well at a higher grit (5000 or higher). These are excellent for aggressive sharpening too.The Naniwa Chosera 3000 moves material well from the blade. I really like using it. It is quick and effective. I have found that it feels less aggressive than diamond or GlassStones. understand too, that sharpening is personal and subjective, depending upon preferences and not a matter of one stone type being "better' or "worse" than another. This is a large stone, so the user should get much wear from it. Just slash and go. No soaking. One warning. I was using a diamond stone to flatten out the edges on my Chosera, and I accidentally snagged a corner of the Chosera and broke off a piece of the stone. First, the edges needed smoothing since I had contacted them with my metal knob on my assisted--opening pocketknife. For most knives this would not be an issue, since they do not have this knob. I probably was a bit careless. Regardless, the stone functions fine still. Just a note of caution. I really like this stone. It is among my favorite.

Great Whetstone
Very nice stone. I only buy stones that are splash and go and 2.76" wide to accommodate my straight razors. This stone delivers especially when used with a blue Nagura stone.

Amazing stone but it cracked
This stone is awesome! My only thing that gets me is there are cracks only after a few uses cracks developed. Idk what happened as I take good care of them and I Do not soak my splash go stones! I am talking to the supplier to see if they will help me out! This stone is amazing for you can almost do work that is meant for 1000 grit stone! The feedback is great, the cut speed is amazing for 3000 grit. It wears very slow! This paired with my Chosera 800 and a green compound leather stop will result in ultra sharp blades. In conclusion this is one of the best stones in the Chosera lineup and if it wasn’t for the crack I would give 5 starts! Hopefully the seller will contact me about a replacement because this is upsetting when you spend 106$(at the time) for a stone and it cracks. Like I stated above I take very good care of my tools!

Buy these
Should’ve have spent the money and went straight to these instead of buying cheaper two sided stones from Amazon. I paired this chosera with my Sharpal 325/1200 grit diamond stone after purchasing VG10’s and HAP40’s Japanese knives and I am happy. These stones sharpens very quickly and gives perfect feedback making sharpening quick and easy even with my harder Japanese HAP40 supersteel knives (66 HRC) that would otherwise eat up regular stones. Go straight to a chosera and spend that money, this stone is definitely well worth the price. I love it so much I also purchased the 800 grit and most likely will purchase the 5000 grit in the near future. So far the Sharpal 325/1200 diamond stone finished with the 3000 chosera then light stropping, seems to be enough to get my kitchen knives wickedly sharp.
