Is this really only 1" high? How does it fully cover your ears?

can you use this in the summer? ..i don’t like the sound of wind in my ears, makes the ride seem harder...

It does reduce the noise but it is very warm. I would never wear it in summer or warmer than about 50 or 55 degrees.
